The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 188

Vivica paid her no mind, continuing to direct the movers. "This dresser, too. Please take it."

She knew the villa the Bairds had given her would be fully furnished, but she couldn't bear to part with these pieces she had so carefully chosen. Besides, she had no intention of accepting the Bairds' generosity forever. Once Chaim was healthy and she could focus on other things, she planned to buy a place of her own. These things would come in handy then.

Seeing that she was being ignored, Riley grabbed Vivica's arm. "Vivica, I'm talking to you!"

The sudden pull aggravated Vivica's back injury. Her face tightened in pain, and she spun around, her eyes cold as ice.

Riley, aware of the injury, was momentarily frightened by the look on Vivica's face.

"Riley, didn't you only come back to him for his money?" Vivica asked, her voice laced with sarcasm. "He's broke now. Why are you still clinging to him? Don't tell me you've actually fallen in love again."

Riley's lips thinned. "He has nothing now," she said shamelessly. "If even I abandon him, how will he go on? Unlike you, I'm not heartless. I won't just leave him to rot."

"Wow," Vivica said, shaking her head. "If I hadn't known you for so many years, I might have actually believed that. You're just sticking around because you haven't found a better prospect yet. The second you do, you'll care even less about his fate than I do."

"You—"

"Ms. Lynn, the real estate agent is here," Fannie interjected, saving Riley from having to respond.

Vivica turned to see two agents approaching the apartment, but Dylan was faster. He rushed forward to block their path, unleashing a torrent of abuse. "Get out! We're not selling! Get the hell out of here!"

The bodyguards could keep the Sanfords from entering the apartment, but they couldn't gag them. The father-daughter duo hurled insults at the agents.

"Calling the cops won't do you any good!" Dylan bellowed, pressing the blade of the knife to his own neck, his face flushed with rage. "The only way you're selling my son's house today is over my dead body!"

Suddenly, a calm, commanding voice cut through the chaos in the hallway.

"Even if you die, you won't be able to save your son's property."

Everyone froze, turning toward the sound. The elevator doors had opened, and Joseph was striding out. He was flanked by Roderic and several large, imposing men in black suits.

As Vivica watched the powerful, cold-faced man approach—as if on cue, with his own theme music—a profound sense of relief washed over her, even greater than if the police themselves had arrived.
