The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 270

After the toast, they both sat down.

Holly leaned over and whispered, "I still think Mr. Smith is into you. That whole 'you look like my friend' thing is just a classic pickup line."

Vivica didn't respond. Whether it was true or not, she didn't care. She was just here for a business trip. After a few days of work, she'd be heading home. Riverdale and Sydville were so far apart. Mr. Smith was a successful man in Sydville; he probably had a wife and family. Even if he did have some interest in her, he wouldn't act on it. The stakes were too high.

The dinner wasn't over yet when her phone rang. It was Joseph.

Vivica needed to use the restroom anyway, so she took her phone and stepped out of the private dining room to answer. "Hello?"

"Are you still at dinner?" Joseph asked directly.

"Yeah, but it's almost over. What's up?"

"It's nine o'clock. Chaim's about to go to bed, and I thought I'd send you a video before he does. Don't you miss him?"

She had to admit, Joseph was incredibly thoughtful when it came to her son. He even considered little details like this.

"Of course I miss him," Vivica said. "This is the first time we've been apart since he was born."

"Hmph, and whose fault is that? You abandoned your own child just to avoid me. Am I that terrifying?" Joseph was still stuck on that idea.

"I already told you, that's not why. This was my boss's decision."

"Is this boss the one who came to see you at the hospital?"

"Don't worry, I won't this time. You should get ready, too. As soon as I'm back from this trip, we'll start trying to conceive." Vivica's tone was suddenly firm, almost as if she were flipping the script and taking control.

Joseph was clearly surprised. He paused for a beat before replying, "Alright. I hope you mean what you say."

"In that case, I suggest you go to the hospital for a check-up in the next couple of days. Isn't Mr. Murphy a fertility specialist? You should have him take a look." Emboldened by the distance between them, Vivica spoke bluntly, unafraid of offending him.

Joseph's expression tightened, and his voice changed. "What are you implying? What do I need to be checked for?"

"Your fertility, of course. I've already had Chaim, so we know I don't have any issues. You should definitely get checked. So many men these days have low sperm count or other problems that cause infertility."

"Vivica, do you think I can't do anything to you just because you're far away?" he retorted. "Are you questioning my fertility? Do you think I'm like that useless ex-husband of yours?"
