The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 310

Plus, it was located in a prime, high-value area of the city center, making it easy to get anywhere. His law firm was only a twenty-minute drive away.

“No, I don’t think so,” Vivica said, shaking her head quickly. “I don’t want the hassle of moving again.”

She used it as an excuse, but the truth was, she felt uneasy about it. Their future was still so uncertain, and the more entangled their lives became, the more complicated a potential separation would be. It was better not to encroach too far into his territory.

Joseph watched her, seeming to read her mind, but ultimately said nothing.

When they arrived at his private domain, Vivica felt a wave of dizziness just standing at the entrance. The floor was so high up—the very top of the building. Looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows, it felt like she could reach out and touch the clouds.

“Aren’t you scared, living all alone in a place this big, this high up?” she couldn’t help but ask.

“What’s there to be scared of in your own home?” Joseph said as he changed into his slippers. He handed her a pair of men’s slippers. “I don’t have any for women. These are a bit big, but they’ll have to do.”

“Thanks.” Vivica slipped them on and walked into a living room that felt as large as a football field. She noticed both an indoor elevator and a staircase. So it was a duplex penthouse. No wonder he’d suggested she and Chaim could move in; there was certainly enough space.

“Want some water?” Joseph asked from behind her as he walked toward the bar area.

Vivica was too busy looking around to hear him. He poured a glass of water and walked over, handing it to her.

“Oh,” she said, finally noticing. She took the glass and smiled at him. “Your home is so big, but it feels… a little sterile.”

It was true. The apartment was the pinnacle of luxury, as pristine and perfect as a showroom, but it lacked any sign of life.

Vivica was still in a daze, her gaze fixed on the large hand holding hers. When had it become so natural for him to hold her hand, for them to act so much like a couple?

His bedroom was also astonishingly large. Even though it was the area he used most, it still had a serious, meticulously organized feel, much like the man himself. The bed was made with such precision it looked like no one had ever slept in it.

“The walk-in closet is over there, and that’s a small office space,” he explained. “For when I need to handle urgent documents at home.”

The mansion-sized apartment certainly had a formal study, but he often got home so late that he rarely had time to use it.

Vivica nodded silently, pulling her gaze away from his bed. But Joseph had noticed. He stepped closer, a smile playing on his lips as he wrapped an arm around her waist. “You’ve been staring at my bed since you walked in,” he murmured. “What’s on your mind?”

Vivica’s nerves tightened, her scattered thoughts snapping back into focus. “No, I wasn’t,” she denied quickly, but she was already trapped in his strong, warm embrace. Growing tense, she tried to change the subject. “Didn’t you… didn’t you say you wanted help packing? The closet is over there, right? I can go help…”
