Their clothes were gradually stripped away, tossed carelessly onto the floor and the edge of the bed.
Just as things were about to reach their natural conclusion, Vivica suddenly pushed against his shoulders. “Wait!” she gasped, stopping him.
Joseph’s shirt was already off, revealing a lean, powerful torso that radiated a dizzying, intoxicating masculinity. His heart was pounding. He frowned, his voice low and strained. “What is it now?”
At a time like this, was she still not ready?
Vivica stared into his burning eyes, her own brow furrowed. “I… I think I just got my period.”
“Your what?”
Before she could explain, she shoved him off her, scrambled up, and grabbed a random piece of clothing to cover herself.
“Where’s the bathroom?” she asked as she pulled on his shirt.
Joseph propped himself up on an elbow, the realization dawning on him. His face tightened in frustration as he gestured with his chin. “Over there.”
His shirt was long enough to cover her thighs, so she didn’t bother with her pants and bolted for the bathroom.
Joseph remained stunned for a moment, then collapsed back onto the bed with a groan. He threw an arm over his forehead, unable to believe something so cliché was happening to him. What were the chances?
If he’d known, he would have just taken her with him from the hotel in Sydville. Then again… that probably wouldn't have worked either. Even if he had, judging by the timing, it would have been for nothing. He sighed in frustration.
After a moment, he sat up, pulled on his pants, and walked toward the bathroom.
Whatever the reason, the thought of them both naked, with Joseph on the verge of… only to be stopped by this, made her want to crawl into a hole and never come out. She felt like she could never face him again.
Outside the door, Joseph’s brow furrowed even deeper at her request. Nevertheless, he agreed. “Stay put. I’ll go buy them.”
He remembered there was a 24-hour convenience store near the apartment complex; they would definitely have what she needed.
Joseph turned, went to the walk-in closet to get dressed, and left with his phone in hand.
Vivica heard his footsteps fade away and finally allowed herself to relax a little. She had no idea how long he would be gone, and she couldn't just sit on the toilet forever. Using some toilet paper as a temporary solution, she got up and went back into the bedroom.
The sight of their clothes scattered all over the floor made her blush all over again. Overcome with embarrassment, she started picking them up.
