The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 321

“What?”

Quintina’s face was a mask of shock and disbelief. She was about to press for more details when Vivica clamped a hand over her mouth and dragged her outside.

Once they were in a deserted hallway, Vivica finally let go.

Quintina, her eyes wide with curiosity, immediately resumed her questioning. “Why not? Didn’t you say he was perfectly fine?”

“He is fine, more than fine, actually. It’s just that… he’s very… very…” Vivica’s face turned crimson, unable to voice the adjective.

Normally, discussing such intimate topics between best friends was nothing out of the ordinary, but she felt different this time. Whenever she thought of Joseph, her heart would race, her mind would flash with R-rated scenes, and a blush would uncontrollably creep up her face.

Quintina looked puzzled. “Very what? Finish your sentence!”

Flustered and embarrassed, Vivica gestured emphatically with her hands. “You know, ‘very’!”

“Ah… oh!” Quintina’s eyes lit up in understanding. She covered her mouth to stifle a giggle, then urged impatiently, “Well, if that’s the case, why didn’t it happen? Can you just be direct? We’re all adults here. What’s there to be shy about?”

“It’s not that. We were just about to… and then I suddenly got my period.”

“What? No way…”

“Yeah, I know,” Vivica nodded, cringing at the memory of yesterday’s events. It was still so embarrassing.

“And it was at his place, so of course, he didn’t have any pads. I was stuck on the toilet and had to ask him to go out and buy some for me.”

Quintina stared blankly for a second before bursting into laughter.

“The timing is just… unbelievable! If it had been just half an hour later, you would’ve been done,” Quintina said, grabbing Vivica’s arm as she bent over with laughter.

“Relax, I’ve got all the nerve but none of the guts. The most I’ll do is giggle when I see him,” Quintina promised, shoving her friend forward while still roaring with laughter.

Vivica’s face was a mixture of flushed embarrassment and anxiety, terrified her friend would sell her out.

...

That evening, Vivica returned home with arms full of shopping bags, but Joseph wasn’t back yet.

The snow that had been falling for days had finally stopped, leaving a thick blanket over the villa’s backyard.

Vivica had already told Laura and Zelda not to clear it, wanting to build a snowman with Chaim.

After putting her things away upstairs, she went down to call her son out to play in the snow. Bundled up in thick winter coats, with Chaim fully equipped with a scarf, hat, and gloves, the mother and son duo plunged into the snowy backyard, playing joyfully.
