The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 336

Noticing her pale expression, Holly leaned over. “Vivica, what's wrong? Are you not feeling well?”

Vivica forced a small smile and shook her head. “No, I just didn't sleep well last night. A little tired, that's all.”

She still had work to do, so she pushed the troubling thoughts aside and tried to focus.

During her lunch break, Joseph called again.

“Did Raymond contact you?” He had been waiting to hear from Vivica, but when he didn't, he decided to call.

Vivica was on her way downstairs to get lunch. “He's coming to Riverdale this afternoon,” she said calmly. “He asked Zavier to mediate, said he wants to talk in person.”

“What do you mean?” Joseph's voice grew tense. “He's just showing up, out of the blue? This is huge, Vivica. Why didn't you tell me?”

“You're busy with work,” Vivica replied. “I didn't want to keep bothering you.”

“What nonsense is that!” Joseph's tone sharpened. “What did I tell you?”

Vivica knew his temper and understood he was just worried about her, so she didn't get angry. “Don't worry, I can handle it. If I really can't, I'll call you to help clean up the mess.”

What reason could that be? It was obvious: like Zebulon and Evelyn, they must have favored the son. It was only after their son died, leaving them childless, that they suddenly remembered their “lost” daughter.

What did she need with this belated, pity-driven affection? She would be expected to care for them, support them in their old age. Even if there was an inheritance, she didn't need the money. Acknowledging them would only throw her peaceful life into chaos.

“Alright, if you don't want to, then don't. Just don't let it get to you and make you unhappy.” Joseph knew her personality; she appeared to let things go easily, but she often bottled up her true feelings.

“Okay, I'm fine. Don't worry about me. You should get back to your work,” Vivica said, her voice softening as she tried to soothe him.

Joseph was still irked. “We're in a relationship now,” he chided. “You don't need to be so polite. If you don't tell me what's going on next time, I won't help you when you're in trouble.”
