The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 452

Two more figures approached, supporting him on either side. “Mr. Baird, you’re drunk,” one said politely. “Let us help you upstairs to rest.”

He thought he refused, but he was still half-carried between them back into the elevator. The next thing he knew, his body was thrown onto a bed. As the woman’s hand reached for the collar of his shirt, fumbling with his collar pin and tie, Joseph summoned a final surge of immense self-control. With a sharp crack, he slapped her hard across the face.

“Get out! Or you’ll regret it!” Joseph roared, his face flushed and his expression dark. He pushed himself up, intending to leave.

He swayed unsteadily, his steps slow and clumsy. The woman quickly scrambled up and lunged, wrapping her arms around him from behind.

“Mr. Baird, I’m much more beautiful than your wife, and my body is better. Are you sure you don’t want to enjoy yourself?” she whispered, her voice a sultry poison as she pressed her curves against him.

Joseph gritted his teeth, pried her hands off, and stumbled toward the door. But after only two steps, his legs gave out, and he had to brace himself against the wall to stay upright.

“Who are you? What do you want? What… did you drug me with?” he demanded, his voice strained.

The woman only smiled, tracing a finger lightly across his cheek. “Mr. Baird, I don’t know what you’re talking about. You just had too much to drink, and I’m being kind enough to help you.”

“Get away! Don’t touch me!” Joseph swung a hand at her, but in his dizzy and exhausted state, his arm went wide, slapping against the wall instead.

She quickly grabbed his hand, blowing on it gently. “Oh, Mr. Baird, why must you be so difficult? I’d be heartbroken if you hurt yourself.”

“Get lost! Or I’ll kill you!” Joseph shoved her away again, his warning hissed through clenched teeth.

Utterly unafraid, she burrowed back into his arms, clinging to him tightly. “Mr. Baird, don’t fight it anymore. Tonight… just let me take good care of you…”

His eyes were bloodshot, his face a terrifying mask of fury. He seized a fistful of her hair and yanked her head back viciously. The woman cried out in pain, one hand flying to her scalp.

“Mr. Baird… let go! Don’t make me do this!” she shrieked, her face contorted in a grimace, a venomous glint in her eyes.

Before Joseph could process her threat, she produced a knife from somewhere and lunged at him.

“Hello? Sir?”

“I’m in trouble. Quick, come find me!” Joseph’s hand was shaking so violently that the phone slipped from his grasp and clattered to the floor.

Outside, the woman was frantically slamming against the door. From the sounds, more people had arrived. He remembered the two men who had brought him upstairs; they were clearly her accomplices.

He couldn’t speak to Roderic anymore. He forced himself up and slid the lock on the door. Through the phone, Roderic’s voice sounded distant and chaotic as he ran.

“Sir, what’s happening? Where are you?”

A loud thud shook the door as someone kicked it.

Joseph pressed his body against the door, his gaze fixed on the phone on the floor. “I don’t know! Just… hurry! Find me!”
