"You don't?" Joseph said slowly, pausing for effect. "Fine. In a few days, I'll make sure you understand."

Sean, unable to contain himself, threw up his hands and snapped, "Joseph, I know you're rich and powerful, but that's in Riverdale. This is Sydville!" The implication was clear: a powerful outsider couldn't just throw his weight around on their turf.

Raymond's expression darkened. "Is that a threat?"

Before Sean could retort, Sullivan yanked him back. "Shut your mouth!" he hissed, clearly fed up with his hot-headed, simple-minded brother.

Sean's lips tightened in humiliation as he retreated a couple of steps.

Sullivan stepped forward, his gaze shifting to the hospital bed. "Hayes, I didn't come here to start a fight. You and your wife are in this state, so why are you still clinging to your shares in the main company?"

"You first tried to pressure my aunt Hillary, and now you come here to pressure Hayes," Raymond interrupted. "You've gone too far!"

"This has nothing to do with you, Raymond. Of course, you don't want us to get the shares back, because the Smith family has been eyeing them greedily for years."

Sullivan's accusation was baseless slander.

The effort of speaking sent Hayes into a violent coughing fit, leaving him gasping for air. Raymond frantically pressed the call button, and a medical team rushed in.
