The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 557

Until things were absolutely guaranteed, Joseph hadn't intended to tell her.

He was afraid of getting her hopes up only to have them crash down in disappointment.

But after today's completely documented assassination attempt disguised as a car crash, the Chase brothers' crimes were now impossible to hide.

"Yeah. Around 8 PM tonight, the police sent in a SWAT team. They surrounded Sullivan and Sean Chase's properties and took both families into custody."

Vivica was stunned. Her mind instantly cleared, and any remaining traces of sleep completely vanished!

"They sent in a SWAT team? They took everyone?" she asked, astonished.

Her voice had accidentally spiked in volume, stirring the sleeping Chaim next to her.

Vivica hurriedly patted her son gently to soothe him back to sleep.

"Yes. They've kept a large number of private thugs on their payroll. Regular officers showing up with a warrant would likely have been met with violent resistance, so they bypassed the risk and requested immediate SWAT support."

As a prominent lawyer, Joseph had seen this kind of thing plenty of times. It was nothing new to him.

But to an ordinary citizen, it sounded like something out of an action movie.

Seeing that her son had settled back into a deep sleep, Vivica quietly slipped out of bed, tiptoed into the study, and turned on a small desk lamp.

As the light flickered on, Joseph could finally see her face. A soft smile broke across his lips.

"What, are you planning to stay up all night chatting with me?" he teased, not expecting his wife to be such a gossip hound.

Vivica propped her phone against the desk, pulled her knees to her chest in the chair, and hugged her legs, looking like a perfectly well-behaved student.

Hearing her husband's teasing, she gave an embarrassed little laugh, but pressed on in a whisper, "At least give me the details. Tell me what happened today—you've already woken me up with this video call anyway."

Seeing how eager she was, Joseph was more than happy to indulge her.

"Alright, but it's late, so I'll keep it brief."

It turned out that just the day before, Raymond's men had intercepted the goons who were tailing Joseph. Under interrogation, those men had spilled several massive bombshells.

Beyond just white-collar financial crimes, Sullivan and Sean Chase were heavily involved in horrific personal conduct.

"They've been preying on a lot of women over the years—some of them even college students. When things got out of hand and the victims' parents came looking for justice, the brothers would send their thugs to threaten, intimidate, and even physically assault the families."

"Because of the stigma attached to these kinds of assaults, the parents wanted to protect their daughters' reputations and were too terrified to go to the police. They were forced to suffer in silence."

"And those two thugs we caught? They've been the ones carrying out a lot of that dirty work for them. They're rock-solid witnesses."

Vivica's face twisted in disgust as she listened, horrified at the thought of those two old creeps ruining the lives of innocent young women.

It was sickening. Sullivan Chase spent his days dressing up like some transcendent spiritual guru, constantly rolling prayer beads between his fingers as if he were above it all.

"That's amazing!" This was the news Vivica cared about the most.

Her biological parents had been tormented and driven to absolute ruin by those two brothers. If the truth never saw the light of day and they never got justice, it would be a heartbreaking tragedy.

"Aside from those, there's a laundry list of other charges. Tomorrow, we have to go back to the police station. This case is going to make massive waves. Give it a few days, and it'll probably be headline news everywhere."

Vivica stared into the camera, looking at her husband's handsome but exhausted face, and nodded.

"A case this horrific is bound to cause an uproar. But once my parents hear about this, they're going to feel so vindicated!"

Joseph's voice softened. "Yeah. Tomorrow, after we wrap things up at the station, Raymond and I are going to visit them and break all of this down for them in detail."

Vivica flinched slightly, a look of surprise and awkwardness crossing her face.

"You're... going to see my parents tomorrow?"

"Of course. I'm their legal representation. A lawyer meeting with his clients is standard procedure, isn't it?" Joseph said with a smile.

Technically, that was true.

But the thought of her husband meeting her biological parents on his own while she wasn't there felt incredibly strange and delicate.

"What's wrong? What are you worried about?" Joseph asked, easily reading the apprehension in her silence.
