The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 575

Dr. Quillan gave her a side-eye, his white beard twitching slightly. "You're already pregnant. Why are we treating you for infertility?"

What?

Vivica and Joseph froze, equally stunned.

A shockwave ripped through them. Vivica whipped her head around to look up, while Joseph immediately looked down at her.

Their eyes locked in absolute disbelief.

After a few breathless seconds, Joseph was the first to react. He clamped a heavy hand onto his wife's shoulder, almost as if to keep her from jumping out of her chair, and turned to the old doctor. "Are you saying... my wife is expecting?"

Dr. Quillan shot him a look. "Didn't you plant the seed yourself?"

His tone clearly implied: You two should know exactly what you've been up to.

The reality finally crashed over Vivica, her breathing accelerating with sheer euphoria. "I'm pregnant... I'm finally pregnant."

She grabbed Joseph's hand, her entire face radiating with an incandescent joy.

"Honey, the doctor says I'm pregnant! There's hope for Chaim!"

"I know, I know. Deep breaths. Try not to get too worked up," Joseph replied, equally ecstatic but forcing himself to remain calm to soothe his wife.

Watching their intense reaction, Dr. Quillan asked curiously, "Have you been trying for a very long time?"

"Not exactly. Just over two months," Joseph admitted truthfully.

According to Harvey Murphy, conceiving in two months was actually incredibly fast.

It was only because they were racing against the clock for Chaim's sake that the time had felt like an agonizing eternity.

Predictably, Dr. Quillan looked entirely unimpressed. "Two months? What are you panicking for? The way you're acting, I thought it had been two years."

Terrified that this might be a false alarm, she bit her lip and cautiously asked, "Doctor... how accurate is diagnosing pregnancy through a pulse? Is there any chance... it could be a misdiagnosis?"

Before she even finished her sentence, she saw Dr. Quillan's face darken and quickly backpedaled. "I'm not doubting your medical skills! It's just... I'm so terrified of making a mistake. I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing."

Dr. Quillan had been ready to scold her, but seeing her hyper-anxious, fragile state—and remembering she was fighting for her sick child's life—he swallowed his pride.

He let it go. A mother's heart was a heavy burden to bear.

"I can't speak for other practitioners, but I've been doing this for seventy years, and I've never misread a pulse. If you're truly that worried, go to the hospital and get a blood test."

An assistant standing nearby chimed in, "You don't need to worry. Dr. Quillan's pulse readings are never wrong. If you were a bit further along, he could even tell you if you were having multiples."

Hearing this finally allowed Vivica's tense shoulders to drop.

Dr. Quillan took his time carefully assessing her health, then instructed his apprentice to put together a few natural supplements tailored to her specific needs.
