The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 613

Vivica scowled.

Cute? Was he a masochist? His wife was furious, throwing threats at him, and he thought she was cute?

More importantly, if this was his attitude, how was she supposed to stay properly mad at him?

She stared at him for a few seconds, suddenly realizing she was completely outmatched. She simply couldn't win against him.

Deciding to cut her losses, she clammed up.

They remained silent until she was carried back into the master bedroom.

But he didn't put her down on the bed. Instead, he headed straight for the en-suite bathroom.

Vivica tensed up again. "What are you doing? Put me down, I can shower myself."

A faint smirk touched Joseph's lips. "I'm washing you tonight."

"No way!"

Despite her protests, Joseph showed no signs of leaving.

She knew exactly what he was trying to do.

When he finally bent down to set her on her feet, she looked him in the eye and spoke very clearly. "Joseph, I really can't just pretend this didn't happen. I know you're trying to coax me, but I can't let it go tonight. Stop trying to gloss over it. Just... let me have some quiet time to myself tonight, please."

He had just turned on the hot water and was reaching over to help her undress.

At her words, he froze, a flash of surprise in his eyes.

Their gazes met. Vivica looked away, her hands nervously twisting the fabric of her top.

Seeing her stubbornness, Joseph finally grew serious. "How long do you need to process this? Or rather, what can I do to make things right?"

"I don't know, but I really don't want to talk to you tonight," she replied, her voice heavy, eyes still downcast.

That night, Vivica slept with her back turned to him.

Neither spoke.

But out of habit, he shifted closer, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

She didn't fight it. A part of her wanted to shove his arm off, but she knew that pushing him away physically would only create a real, lasting rift between them. She couldn't bear to do that.

Even if he had been wrong to hide the truth and lie to her, his devotion and everything he had done for her were undeniably real.

She cherished the man holding her, and she cherished the life they had built together.

The night passed in silence. But tucked securely in his embrace, she slept soundly.

As the days went by, Vivica's morning sickness grew worse, hitting her especially hard right after waking up.

Joseph had just finished getting Chaim ready and sent him downstairs for Zelda to feed him breakfast before heading back up to the master bedroom.
