The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 631

Joseph hung up the phone and walked over to Dr. Warren's office to discuss their impending discharge. Dr. Warren listened and completely understood his reasoning.

"Dr. Warren, could you arrange for a specialist to accompany us? I'll cover all their travel expenses and add a generous bonus for the personal favor," Joseph requested.

While the Baird family had a general practitioner on call, Chaim's specific condition required a specialist.

Dr. Warren looked around the office, relayed Joseph's request, and asked for volunteers. Two doctors immediately stood up. After a brief discussion, a male doctor in his thirties, Dr. Walsh, was selected.

"Dr. Walsh, please head home and pack your bags. We'll meet directly at the train station," Joseph instructed.

"Understood, Mr. Baird," Dr. Walsh replied.

Returning to the ward, Joseph found Chaim already dressed and waiting.

Vivica looked up. "Is everything sorted?"

His eyes softened with reassurance. "Yes, it's all arranged. The doctor is secured, and we'll meet him at the station shortly."

The little boy looked between his parents, his big dark eyes blinking in confusion. "Mommy, am I leaving the hospital?"

Vivica kept her expression steady, though her heart was already heavy with preemptive grief. She had a terrible premonition that her father wasn't going to pull through this time.

"Yes, sweetie. We're going to Sydville City to visit Grandma and Grandpa," Vivica explained, forcing a bright smile for her son.

"Yay! Another trip!" Chaim cheered, his voice bubbling with excitement. It seemed being cooped up in the hospital had left the toddler desperate for a change of scenery.

It wasn't until they had been driving for a while that Vivica finally mustered the courage to ask, "How is my dad doing?"

Raymond let out a heavy sigh, his tone somber. "His organs are failing. The doctors have done everything they can. Right now, he's only being kept alive by life support. He's just waiting for you to see him one last time."

Vivica had always thought she felt no deep attachment to her biological parents. She assumed that losing them wouldn't break her. But reality proved otherwise; blood ties didn't need years to forge profound emotional resonance.

Just hearing the words "one last time" shattered her composure. Tears spilled over her lashes, streaming down her face like a broken dam.

Sitting beside her, Joseph immediately took her hand, offering silent, steadfast comfort.

"Honestly, these past few years have been agonizing for him. Every day was a battle," Raymond said gently. "In a way, this will finally be a release."
