The King Of War Returns (Jaden Rift) novel Chapter 49

Robert licked his lips as he approached Julie, his grin spreading like a stain across his greasy face. He flexed his fingers eagerly, already imagining the humiliation he was about to inflict.

Julie backed away, trembling, her voice cracking as she cried out, “Please… please don’t do this…”

Robert reached for her—

BOOOOM!

The metal door exploded off its hinges in a thunderous blast, the force shaking the room. Shards of the steel door scattered like shrapnel, embedding into the walls and floor. A thick cloud of dust poured in, cloaking the entrance in gray.

"What the fuck was that?!" one of the guards barked, raising his rifle.

"Eyes up!" another shouted. All weapons snapped to aim.

Everyone held their breath.

As the dust cleared, a silhouette emerged—broad shoulders, clenched fists, death in his eyes.

Jaden stepped forward, his face unreadable… but the fury in his gaze could’ve melted iron.

Julie gasped, her hands still bound, face stained with tears. “Big brother!” she screamed in relief, her voice echoing through the chamber.

Rafael, still lounging in his blood-red leather chair, arched a brow and chuckled. “So… you’re her brother,” he said, twirling the silver ring on his finger. “And here I thought you’d leave the girl to rot. Admirable.”

Jaden didn’t respond. He simply walked forward, holding a black duffel bag in one hand. Without a word, he tossed it to Rafael’s feet.

Thud.

“You bastard! How dare you throw something at our boss like that?!” Robert snarled, moving forward.

Rafael raised his hand calmly. “Relax, Robert. The kid came with the money. Let’s at least count it before we shoot him like a dog.”

Robert kneeled and unzipped the bag.

A second later, he reeled back, letting out a horrified screech. “What the fuck?!”

Rafael narrowed his eyes. “What is it?”

The men crowded in.

Inside the bag… was a head.

A severed head. Bloodied. Rotting. Eyeballs rolled back. Its tongue lolled out of its mouth.

Baron’s head.

The room went dead silent. Even the dim lights seemed to flicker.

“You... you motherfucker!” Rafael shot to his feet, rage boiling in his face. “You dare mock me?!”

Jaden’s voice was ice. “You kidnapped the wrong girls. None of you are making it out alive.”

The men around Rafael burst into laughter, though some of them kept their hands twitching near their holsters.

“You think killing some spoiled rich brat gives you guts, huh?” Rafael spat. “Do you even know who I am?! I’m Rafael fucking Mendez! Drug lord of Devil Club! I’ve cleaned filth for senators, buried witnesses for ministers, and fed men like you to pigs! You're in my house, boy.”

“Wait… where is he?” one shouted, panic in his voice.

“He vanished!”

“Where the hell did he go?!”

Jaden’s voice echoed above them. “You forgot to look up.”

Heads jerked upward.

Jaden was crouched against the ceiling, body pressed like a spider, his eyes glowing with cold fury.

One guard raised his rifle. “You son of a—”

SMASH!

Jaden dropped down like a missile, his fist driving into the man’s skull. The man’s head exploded against the marble floor with a grotesque crunch.

“Circle him!” Rafael roared, stepping back, face pale now. “Light him the fuck up!”

Six more men surrounded Jaden, weapons aimed, fingers trembling.

But Jaden wasn’t done.

“Let me show you…” he muttered, cracking his neck, “what hell looks like.”
