Chapter 209
ISIDORA
The first elimination round would take place among the ruins at the very heart of the castle.
An arena had been set up in the center of the hall.
It was a round platform suspended above a pit, with tall, sharpened spikes rising from the darkness below.
I couldn’t tell what they were made of, but they gave off the same heavy aura as the Angus stones.

Standing beside my friends and the other Estingias taking part in the trial, I looked over the spectators gathered around the platform where we would fight.
Many of the Alpha males from last night’s celebration were there, along with important people looking to strike deak with the Estingias
Losing here didn’t mean you weren’t powerful or couldn’t be useful to another pack.
My gaze swept over the Alpha whom Blaze had nearly killed, but I didn’t give him a second look. I was done playing games
Instead, I searched the lower rows of the stands for my slave.
I expected to find his golden eyes fixed on me. Blaze always seemed obsessed with watching me… but not this time.
He was staring toward the highest section of the ruined stands, far in the back, where the Matriarch sat with several other
women.
For some reason, a bitter feeling settled over me.
Was he angry about what I’d done to him last night?
He was a proud man… but I’d had my reasons too.
I clenched my fists, refusing to think about my relationship problems any longer.
Right now, I was risking my neck.
“The first round is simple. You’ll draw your opponents at random, and each pair will fight until one of you is eliminated.”
The Matriarch’s voice boomed across the hall, and we all looked up toward the massive wall at the far end.
A beam of sunlight streamed through the partially collapsed roof of the vast chamber, making her appear even more imposing
“To keep things fair, you’ll face someone from your own category… Her gaze traveled over the rows where we stood side by side.
“Unless you lose. Then your only chance to stay in the trial will be to challenge and defeat an Estingia from a higher category”
Howls of excitement rose around the arena.
I was confident I could win. I only hoped I wouldn’t be paired with one of my friends…
When they held the sack out to me and I reached inside to draw a naine. I prayed to the Goddess that I would pull Marion’s

“Tezia,” I muttered, looking toward the Light Estingias.
She was an arrogant black-haired girl, like every other Estingia.
Marion was watching me too, mockery shining in her eyes.
“I’m sorry, but she’s already been chosen.”
My attention shifted back to Mikaela.
“Who chose her?”
“I did…” Marion answered as she approached.
The look she gave Mikaela made both Karla and me growl.
“Can’t she pick someone else? I’ll fight instead…” Karla stepped in, but the answer was no.
“If she’s afraid, she can withdraw,” came the response.
We all knew that would only humiliate Mikaela.
“Of course I’ll fight,” she said, and we all looked at her, worried.
I stepped closer to Marion, my murderous aura barely contained.
“If you take this out on her…”
“This is a competition. She’s a warrior. Or is it true that your friends only made it this far by licking your boots?”
“You fucking bitch…”
“That’s enough, Karla. Don’t give her what she wants.”
I stopped Karla as she stepped forward, her rage boiling over.
I just stared at Marion with a coldness I knew got to her.
“For every blow you land on her, I’ll give you one right back. Listen to me carefully…” I moved closer until my lips nearly brushed her ear.
“One way or another, I’m going to make sure we’re paired together. And if you were scared last night, you have no idea the hell I’m going to put you through.”
Marion didn’t answer right away, but I could feel the faint tremor in her aura under the pressure of mine.
“I’ll be waiting for you. And this time, it won’t be like last night…”
She finally replied before turning and walking back to her side.
I looked at Karla standing off to the side with Mikaela, knowing full well that Marion would take everything out of my friend.
Mika didn’t stand a chance against her. This was as far as she was going to get in the competition.
But I couldn’t ask her to surrender either.
She was a warrior, and she would fight to the bitter end. All I could do was avenge her afterward.

Chapter 209
Even so, nothing prepared me for Marion’s cruelty on that circular fighting platform, cut off from the rest of us by a chasm
If you fell into it, you could actually die.
“Mika, surrender! Tell them you surrender…” My entire body shook as I watched her hanging from the edge, clinging by her fingernails while Marion slowly approached to step on her hand.
Beside me, Karla trembled as helpless tears ran down her cheeks.
Blood made Mikaela’s grip slip. Her entire body was covered in wounds.
When the heel of Marion’s boot came down viciously on her hand, Karla’s scream pierced my ears.
“MIKAELA!”
“AAHH!”
We rushed to the edge, but a barrier raised by the higher-ranking Estingias kept us from crossing.
All we could do was stare down into the darkness of the pit, our hearts pounding as we hoped we wouldn’t find her impaled on one of those deadly spikes.
I could breathe again when I spotted a she-wolf lying in one of the safe areas below.
She was bleeding and breathing slowly, but she was alive.
Mika had held onto just enough strength to shift and save herself.
“Lady Marion wins the first match in the New Moon Estingia category!”
Cheers followed the announcer’s call.
No one cared about the loser.
“We’re not going to make it through this trial, but I’m begging you for one thing, Isidora… Karla forced the words through clenched teeth, her voice choked as she glared at Marion with pure hatred. “Kill her. When you face her, you can’t lose.”
She suddenly turned to me, raw hatred burning in her eyes.
“You have to finish that fucking bitch off.”
“I promise,” I said without hesitation.
At that exact moment, the barrier fell, allowing us to rescue Mikaela.
Karla jumped into the deep pit without a second thought. She lifted Mika’s wolf form into her arms and carried her ou through a small side door that had opened below.
More healers came out through the same door and began tending to Mikaela
My gaze locked with Marion’s. A smug little smile curved her lips.
I clenched my fists so hard that I felt my nails digging into my palms.
“I’m going to make you pay for every last thing you’ve done, you fucking bitch…” I muttered.
Then I forced myself to look away, Otherwise, I knew I wouldn’t be able to focus on my own fight.
When my name was called and the wooden bridge leading to the arena extended, I searched for Blaze again.

Once again, he wasn’t looking at me…
This time, he was staring toward Marion’s side.
I could feel that something was happening. Something was getting out of hand. I could feel it all the way down to my soul.
“If you’re trying to get back at me again, it isn’t funny anymore, Blaze…”
I pushed that final thought aside and focused on the black-haired woman standing in front of me.
For some reason, that bitch’s face looked familiar.
“Aren’t you the fat servant who had to wash my period panties once?” she asked with a nasty smile.
“Oh, so that’s where I know your ugly face from. But let me tell you something…” I gave her a wolfish smile of my own. “You picked a terrible time to remind me.”
I cracked my neck and rolled my shoulders.
The horn sounded, and I didn’t even give her time to use that venomous tongue again.
I was on her in a second, grabbing her head with both hands and driving my knee up under her chin.
The scent of her blood drifted through the arena like a drug, fueling my violence.
Scarlet flashed across my vision, and then…
All I wanted was to kill.
