Strength and Beauty
ISIDORA
Our bodies were slowly turning to stone, trapped in pain forever.
But we wouldn’t face it alone. I would never leave him to go through this by himself.
“I told you… you’d never be able to leave my side… Vhaelor…”
“My name is Blaze… It’ll always be Blaze. And my wolf’s name… is Soul.”
“Soul…”

I said his name one last time, knowing he would soon become another shadow, filled with a pain that would drive him mad forever.
Holding on to each other, we were trapped in stone and oblivion.
I thought this would be my end… But Liora had other plans for me.
I opened my eyes again in a place I didn’t recognize.
The daylight was intense, but there was no sun in the sky.
Mist drifted slowly through that strange garden, a garden filled with statues…
Statues of lycans.
I tried to step back, but I felt a presence behind me and spun around, ready to fight.
My stance faltered when I saw the figure standing there.
“Li… Liora…”
I said her name with complete certainty, even though the beautiful woman in front of me looked nothing like the horrible nightmare that had held me against that tree.
Her black hair cascaded over her pale, delicate shoulders.
Her features were soft and refined, with a perfect mouth and intense gray eyes that watched me with curiosity.
Yes…She was looking at me with curiosity.
ile: Most people only see the monster…” she said softly, nothing like the

“Come. Take a walk with me through my favorite garden.”
That was her answer to all this madness.
Still, I followed her.
After everything strange I’d been through, I’d learned how to keep a cool head.

As we passed the hedges and white benches, with the mist drifting from side to side, I looked at the figures. standing on their pedestals.
There were so many of them.
Over the centuries, she had claimed every one of their lives.
“It’s strange… I looked through your memories and saw that people used to mock you because of your weight. A man betrayed you too. He abused you…”
She stopped and gave me a long, searching look.
“Why don’t you feel ugly? Unwanted? After being stabbed in the back so many times, how can you trust other people again? How can you trust that lycan who was always lying to you?”
Her gaze cut through me as if she were searching for a lie in whatever I said next.
“I wasn’t the prettiest growing up, much less the strongest. I had a lot of insecurities, and people were cruel to
me…”
I lowered my head with a bitter sigh.
“But…”
I looked into her eyes again.
“Elessia always loved me exactly as I was. She always believed in me, ever since we were children… and so did he.”
The knot in my throat tightened, but my voice grew clearer and stronger.
“He didn’t care that other people called me fat or deformed. He didn’t care that I could barely defend myself.
I wasn’t glamorous or powerful… but even at my worst, I still had a mate’s love and a sister’s loyalty.”
My voice trembled with emotion.
“And I would’ve lied to him too if it meant spending my final moments with him.”
It was a truth I couldn’t hide.
I suddenly reached out and took the cold hand of the woman who was still frozen in a senseless need for
revenge.

“I didn’t go through anything like what you suffered. Maybe that much betrayal would’ve turned me into the same thing you became…”
I admitted it.
“But tell me, Liora… Are you satisfied now? Does your heart feel any better? Did you get your son back? Your life?”
“No,” she finally answered. “But I found hope again… You showed me that the bond the Goddess called sacred really does exist. Come…”
She suddenly took me by the hand, and as we moved forward, the light grew brighter and the heavy mist began to clear.
Her fingers no longer felt cold as stone.
They were warm now. Comfortingly warm.
“It’s a shame, because this would’ve been my favorite statue…”
She waved her hand, and what appeared in front of me left me speechless again.
In the middle of the garden, standing on a pedestal, I saw myself cradled against my lycan’s chest, held in his arms while he shielded me with his body.
Tears rolled down my cheeks. I didn’t know what to say or do.
“It’s the only statue shaped this way. They all claimed to love their mates deeply, but when the time came to choose… those arrogant lycans always ended up alone.”
And it was true.
All the others around us stood alone in different poses, most of them with terror frozen across their faces.
“I… I tricked you,” I blurted out.
Now that I was dead, what did it matter if I got everything off my chest?
“I’m not pregnant. I know you thought I was, but it was a magical illusion…”
I said it while staring at the statue of Blaze and me.
When she didn’t answer, I looked beside me, afraid I would find the monstrous version of her again.
