I Don’t Fully Trust You.
ISIDORA
I slammed my hand down on the desk, furious. His refusal didn’t matter. I was leaving.

“You’re my mate and my queen. We can’t be apart. I need to take care of the realm, and the palace is safe, my love…”
“I haven’t even decided if I want that role, Your Majesty. And a place where a woman can be attacked that brutally doesn’t seem very safe to me.”
“You think that doesn’t happen at the Estingia tower? I seem to remember having to save both of you from being whipped to death.”
I clenched my teeth and met his commanding golden stare.
Here, he no longer wore the clothes I’d bought him or that intimidating muzzle.
Here, he no longer pretended to be a slave who gave in to my every whim.
The male sitting behind that desk owned the entire realm.
“I’m not the same weak Estingia I used to be. Or do you still doubt what I’m capable of?”
“Isidora, you know I don’t, baby… Damn it, don’t make this so hard on me.”
“I’m making this really easy for you. Take care of your realm. We’re leaving.”
I turned to leave. Every step away from him hurt like hell, but I wasn’t going to turn my back on Elessia again.
His chair crashed back as he stood.
Of course, I didn’t make it to the door.
The second I grabbed the knob, Vhaelor yanked the door shut, trapping me between it and his powerful body.
His large, rough hand closed gently over mine.
His other arm wrapped around my waist.
“Stop saying you’re still deciding whether to be my queen… I told you I’m willing to get down on my knees and beg you to forgive me, but I need to be close to you.”
His breath brushed the back of my neck, making every hair on my body stand on end.
“We don’t know who did that to Elessia. I don’t like that man being near her…” I added, stubbornly.
“That man is her mate. And I told you, if you don’t trust him, then trust me.”

“That’s the problem, Your Majesty…” I managed to turn in his arms and looked up at him. “I don’t fully trust you.”
The words came out bitter, but they were painfully true.
A storm darkened his golden eyes, and his brow furrowed even deeper.
“And I deserve that. But I’ll do whatever it takes to earn your trust back, to make you believe my promises and never doubt them again…”
His fingertips brushed my lips.
Soul’s pheromones spilled into the air and wrapped around me, seducing me, seeping into every pore of my body.
My back hit the door, and suddenly his gorgeous face, all hard masculine lines, was only inches from mine.
“No. Don’t try to use sex to change my mind again, Vhaelor. Seriously…”
“Call me Blaze when we’re like this, just you and me. Call me what you used to… No more Your Majesty. No more Vhaelor. And no more King in that cold, distant voice.”
He whispered against my mouth, his lips grazing mine in a sweet caress that sent my heart racing.
His powerful body pinned me against the door.
His hands locked around my hips, his hard chest pressed against my breasts.
The enormous Lycan King loomed over my much smaller frame.
Even then, I didn’t answer.
I held his gaze, stubbornly fighting the urge to give in to what I wanted so badly.
“You and Elessia are safe under my roof. And if you’d feel better with people you trust around you… then I’ll prove that your wish is my command.”
At first, I didn’t understand what he meant.
I thought he was going to lean down and kiss me, but instead, my mate sighed deeply, kissed the tip of my nose, and stepped back.
The look on his face told me how hard it was for him to let me go.
“Go on, Vaska. Reach out with your senses. A surprise for both of you just arrived at the palace…”
He spoke directly to my wolf, who was making her mate pay too.
Now Soul was the one dying to stay inside her mind, to break through her walls, but she wouldn’t let him in.
“What are you up to?” I frowned and turned back to the door, hesitating before I opened it.

“I just want you to understand the kind of power you have now. Whatever you want can become a reality… bear here, with me… at my side.”
There was a possessive edge to his words. A challenge that stirred Vaska’s rebellious streak.
She hated being ordered around, but she would submit to her powerful mate. I knew she was dying to do it.
