Chapter 10
Lyra
The interior of the car looks like something straight out of paradise, but it does nothing to calm my racing nerves. Everywhere is sparkling diamonds. Even the chair I’m sitting under.
I knew the Lycans were fancy but I didn’t know they were this fancy. Everything about them screams wealth and advanced civilization. Like they’re years ahead of us.
There’s a television, (something I hardly had the chance to watch back at home) sitting near the roof of the car. A video of people playing by a waterside is showing on the television. I watch how they enjoy themselves in awe.
I wish I was born a normal human. I wouldn’t have to worry about having a wolf. I wouldn’t have to worry about being weak or
strong.
“Do you want me to increase the volume for you, flower?” Prince Kai suddenly asks, his voice quiet and playful. I turn to find him
watching me with rapt attention. I want to tell him to stop calling me ‘flower‘ but my words are caught in my throat as I stare at
him. His looks are so striking that I find myself unable to hold his gaze. Why is he so handsome?
And why is he suddenly interested in talking to me? We’ve both been quiet for the past hour.
Figuring that I won’t answer his question, he simply picks up a remote and turns up the volume. Fun music fills the silence in the car. I lean my head on the window and look outside, watching the beautiful streets breeze by.
“Hey Damon, I’m almost at the academy.” Prince Kai says to someone on the phone.
Phone. I’ve also never had one of those before.
just shut the fuck up dude.” I’m guessing whoever he’s
“Get the other room ready… yes, the Valeria Alpha’s daughter is with me… talking to is his friend because of his playful tone. After a few seconds, he ends the call.
“So, am I to be your…sex slave or something?” I couldn’t stop myself from blurting out the question. It’s been nagging at the back of my mind ever since I entered this car.
Prince Kai turns to me with a mischievous smile on his handsome face. I shoot him a glare, my hands clenched in my lap. “What?” I snap, trying to sound braver than I actually feel.
Without warning, he suddenly lunges at me. He moves so quickly I barely have a chance to react. I scramble backwards, pressing myself into the corner of the leather seat as much as I can. He’s so close I can feel the heat coming off him and smell the scent of rain and mint on his skin. I’m out of breath and terrified, my heart pounding in my chest, but strangely, I feel a flicker of
excitement.
W–What are you doing?” I stutter, my voice shaky.

He doesn’t respond. Instead, he reaches past my head, his arm brushing my shoulder, and presses a button to roll down the window. Once the glass is down, he slides back to his side of the seat like nothing happened. I let out a deep breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding.
“You’ll be whatever the fuck I want you to be,” he says, his tone casual as he looks back at his phone. “Now stay quiet, flower.”
I look away from him, my heart still racing in my chest. I still don’t understand why he saved me. Why wouldn’t he just kill me for a crime everyone thinks I committed?
The car keeps moving smoothly, and after a few quiet minutes, I finally feel the tiredness from the day catch up with me. My eyes start to get heavy, and I realize I’m drifting off to sleep. It’s the first time I’ve slept in what feels like ages. Back at the pack, it was
