The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 103

Chapter 103

Lyra

“Not you too.” I whisper in a broken voice. “Dont leave me too…” But I know. Wyndra has left me.

Tears of frustration and grief flow freely from my eyes. My sobs fill the small room, echoing off the walls until the air itself feels tight, as if I’m being suffocated. My heart feels like it’s going to burst from the weight of the sadness I’m feeling.

I can’t handle this. I can’t endure Kai’s cruelty and my own self-destruction at the same time.

Unable to contain the pain any longer, I throw my head back and scream.

I scream my heart out, letting every ounce of my agony rip through my throat. I don’t care if I wake the whole Academy up. I don’t care if Kai comes back to

punish me further.

I scream until my voice is hoarse and raw, until my head aches with a dull, throbbing rhythm.

I scream until there is nothing left inside me but a hollow shell, and then, finally, I pass out.

When next I open my eyes, it is to a completely different world.

I look around in total confusion, my breath catching in my throat. The world looks different. It looks dull somehow, as if I’m looking at an old photograph or stepping into a time that has long since passed. There is no sign of technology, no sleek buildings of Krypton Academy, no properly paved roads.

I’m standing in what looks like an old medieval palace. The place is grand but really ancient, with tall stone arches and heavy tapestries showing battles and celestial events I don’t recognize. Outside the tall, narrow windows, I can see a huge, wild forest that goes on forever, untouched by any sign of modern civilization. The air smells of woodsmoke and dried lavender.

“Hello?” I call out, my voice echoing through the long hallway. “Is anyone there?”

Since one answers, I begin to walk, moving silently on the stone floor. I follow the sound of a soft noise that sounds like a baby giggling until I reach a set of silk curtains. I slowly shift the curtain aside and peep into a sun-brightened room.

Inside, a man and a woman are huddled together, holding a baby girl. The man is tall and fegal, with a kind face and eyes that match the gold of the crown resting on his head. He holds the baby with such tenderness it makes my chest ache. The woman who is also wearing a matching crown is playing with the baby’s tiny hands, making the child laugh out loud with excitement.

Looking at them, I can already tell that they’re probably the king and Queen of this kingdom, or whatever it is.

The King begins to sing a sweet lullaby, swaying gently as he looks at the baby with so much love and adoration that I feel like an intruder on something pure and sacred. I find myself smiling at them, an odd sensation of calmness washing over me. In this moment, I suddenly wish that I had parents who looked at me like this. Like I was their entire world.

Suddenly, the light in the room shifts. A dark, shadow falls over the royal family. Right before my eyes, a terrifying, demon-like monster materializes from the darkness. His skin is like charred bone, and his eyes glow with a sickly, malevolent purple light. For a moment, I’m scared he might notice me, but he doesn’t even spare a glance at my direction. So I assume I’m invisible to them.

The King and Queen immediately look terrified. The King instinctively pulls the baby closer to his chest, shielding her from the creature’s gaze.

“You’re not welcome here, Yaros!” the King shouts, his voice booming with strong authority. “What do you want from us?”

The monster, Yaros, lets out a chilling cackle that sounds like glass breaking into pieces. “I’m here for what belongs to me, King. Your daughter belongs to me. The last Phoenix, the daughter of the sun, belongs to me. With her power, we shall pull the realms together and I shall rule them all. ́ ́

The Queen’s eyes flash with fury and she steps forward, shielding both the king and their baby. “I’d rather die than let you touch our baby!”

She reaches for a sword resting against a nearby chair and advances with a shout. But Yaros is very fast. Before she can even swing, the monster vanishes and materializes directly behind her. With a lightning fast motion, he stabs a long, spiked hand into her stomach.

I gasp in horror, my hand flying to my mouth. The Queen gasps, her eyes wide as Yaros slams her back into a stone pillar. She slides to the floor, unmoving.

“Nevara!” the King screams, his voice breaking as he continues to protect the laughing baby, who has no idea what is happening.

Yaros laughs wickedly, stepping over the Queen’s body. “Give me the baby before you join her too! Give her to me and I might let your kingdom stay the way

it is.”

The King falls to his knees, looking completely defeated. I stand there, frozen in shock, watching the nightmare unfold. The King looks up, his eyes wet with

tears, and his expression suddenly shifts from despair to a cold, hard determination.

“Okay, Yaros, the King says quietly. “Please… just…Give me a few moments with my princess. Then you can have her.”

The monster nods and moves back, giving the king space.

The King leans down and kisses the baby’s forehead. She is still laughing, reaching for his face.

‘I love you, my precious Astra,” he whispers, his voice thick with a father’s grief.

Then, in a move that makes my heart stop, he pulls out a small, wooden knife from his pocket, it’s a blade that looks like it’s carved from a strange, glowing

white wood. He stabs the baby right in the center of her chest.
