The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 105

Chapter 105

The question hangs in the air. My father’s grip on his wine glass becomes too tight. Giuseppe’s smile falls, his eyes narrowing as he waits for my answer.

Even the Monpire lord tilts his head in curiosity.

i look at my mother, then at the King. I feel the weight of her question hit me.

“When has my choice ever been considered, Mother?” I ask, my voice flat and devoid of any warmth. “I guess I have to do what is required of me. That is the

life of a prince.”

My mother looks down, her expression changing into sadness. She doesn’t say another word.

After the meal is cleared, King Geo stands up. The room goes dead silent. Even the Monpires stop their murmuring to give him their full attention. There is

a shift in the atmosphere, as if something dark and heavy is coming.

“The reason for this gathering isn’t just to celebrate a future union,” King Geo begins, his voice dropping into a low, authoritative tone that fills every corner

of the room. “The Monpire lord and I have been working on something. We have been searching for something rare. Something thought to be a myth for

thousands of years.”

One of the Monpires, a tall man with skin the color of marble and blue hair, stands up beside my father.

“A weapon exists,” he says to everyone at the table. “An entity from ancient times. It can summon both the power of the sun and of the moon. With it, Lycans and Monpires can rule every shifter, every creature, and every realm in existence. Total dominion over the world.”

The room is instantly filled up with murmurs and whispers. I share a quick look with Kara. This sounds like the dark bedtime stories we were told as children, the legends of the First Phoenix, the immortal white fox that could turn an entire army to ash in a second.

“How are you sure it’s even real?” One of the royal asks, sounding very doubtful of what the monpire is saying.

“Because the weapon is not particularly an object,” the Monpire replies, his lips lifting in a cold, calculating smile. ‘It is a person. A human who thinks they’re normal but has the power of the Sun Phoenix in their blood. Our research suggests this person is currently within the Lycanthropy kingdom, possibly hidden in plain sight within one of the wolf packs as we speak. You see, the power has been dormant for hundreds of years now.”

My father takes over again, his eyes gleaming with a dangerous ambition. He looks like a man who already has the world in his hands. This is not good.

“Everyone at this table is a royal, King Geo says, his voice loud. ‘You are the greatest of your kind. Therefore, I am charging each of you with this task. You must find this… Sun Phoenix. Track every pack, every every human territory. Look for signs of power that shouldn’t be there.”

ľ

“And what is the reward for the one who finds it?’ Giuseppe asks, his eyes shining with anticipation.

“Whoever finds the human weapon will be considered the highest rank in the kingdom, second only to me. They will have power beyond imagination. They

will join me and be the architect of our new world.

With that said, everyone in the room is suddenly interested. I see the hunger in Roman’s eyes, the desire to be above me and take the throne for himself! see it in Rina’s, too. Every official and royal at the table is already plotting their search, thinking of who they can interrogate and whose lives they can ruin to find this weapon.

I look at Kara. Her face is pale, reflecting the same dread I feel in my gut. My father is already a tyrant. If he gets his hands on something that can summon

the sun, the world is finished. He won’t just rule, he’ll destroy anything that doesn’t bow.

“The Sun Phoenix,” I whisper to myself.

silently decide right there that I will find this person first. I don’t care about the rank or the reward. I’ll find them and I’ll hide them, or I’ll kill them

myself before I let my father turn the world into a graveyard.

“The search starts from now. Long may Lycanthropy reign,” the King announces, raising his glass.

Everyone echoes back the words. I raise my glass too. But for a different reason. I’m already thinking of how I can beat my father to his own game.
