The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 243

Chapter 243

“In fact, Kai, you shouldn’t be the one to go after her at all. I should go. I am the one Lyra would actually want to see right now.”

That’s it. I completely lose it……

I reach out and wrap my hand around Roman’s neck. I lift him off his feet, squeezing his throat until he chokes.

“You think you can take her from me?!” I roar, threatening him as my claws sink into his skin.

Roman tries to fight back, clawing my wrists, his beast pushing forward to break my hold.

I raise my hand, completely prepared to fling Roman straight into the bonfire behind us. I want to burn him alive.

But right before I can throw him, a sound echoes through the trees.

A loud, piercing scream.

It cuts through the loud music, making every single student in the field freeze instantly. We all go dead silent.

My chest feels like it is being cut in half. My heart stops beating. I recognize that voice instantly. There is no mistaking it. It is

undoubtedly Lyra.

She’s in danger!!’ Vlad yells inside my head, his voice exploding with pure panic. ‘Move! Move! Move!”

“Fuck!!” I shout, dropping Roman to the grass without another thought.

Kara takes a sharp step backward, her face turning pale as she grips her own chest. What was that? Oh goddess… Lyra!”

I don’t waste another single second. I don’t care who sees me, and I don’t care about the rules. I drop to my hands and knees. My

bones crack and shift instantly as I let my Lycan beast take over. Within a heartbeat, I transform into my Lycan form. I let out a

deafening roar and sprint straight into the dark woods, running as fast as my legs can carry me.

I put my nose to the ground, easily catching her scent. Her sweet, flowery scent is trailing through the trees, mixed with something

else that makes me terrified.

I tear through the bushes, branches scratching against my thick fur. Behind me, I can hear the loud thumping of paws. Damon, Kara,

and the rest are running behind me. Even her friend, Amara and the others, are running along behind us, trying to keep up.

The fear I feel right now is unlike anything I have ever experienced in my entire life. It feels like a hand squeezing my throat. My

mind is racing with horrible images of what could be happening to her out here in the dark.

Please… please be fine flower. Please just hold on until I get there! I plead inwardly, running even faster, jumping over branches

and rocks.

Chapter 243

The scent grows incredibly strong as I approach the trees up ahead. Finally, I reach the clearing where her smell is strong, and I

instantly shift back into my human form, stumbling onto the dirt. I look around, my chest heaving as I try to find her.

Then, I completely freeze at what I see.

“No. No. No!!” I yell out loud, the sound tearing from my throat.

There are about four demons lying on the grass, their bodies completely lifeless and mangled. Their foul, rotting scent mixes with

the smell of fresh blood.

I run around the circle of the clearing like a madman, kicking the dead demons aside, desperately checking behind every single free

and bush for any sign of silver hair. “Lyra! Lyra, where are you?!”

But there is no sign of her. Her scent is still incredibly strong in the air, hanging over the place like a phantom. But she isn’y here

drop down to my knees in the dirt, my hands sinking into the cold soil. The feeling of hopelessness and defeat hits me, crushing

my spirit. She is gone. She has been taken right out from under my nose.

The others finally break through the trees, stopping when they see me. Damon and Kara step forward. Their eyes widen as they

glance around at the dead bodies.

“Lyra! Lyra, answer us!” Kara shouts, her voice shaking.

The other girl, Amara steps forward, looking at the demonic blood on the grass. She collapses against her boyfriend and starts

sobbing. “Where could she be? Oh my god, please no!”

I stare at my ground, feeling the guilt tear my stomach to pieces. I shouldn’t have let her leave on her own, I whisper, my voice

cracking as I slam my fist into the ground. “I knew how much danger she was in! I knew people were hunting her, yet I left her

alone just because of my stupid pride! Fuck!”

My beast groans in immense pain, much like me.
