The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 256

Chapter 256

Honestly, I think it is probably a good thing that I have no memory of him at all. There is something about his presence that is far too overwhelming. Just looking at him makes me almost forget how to breathe. How can anyone look at him and not get entirely swept up in those intense, fierce green eyes of his? They look like a storm. For my own sanity, I truly hope he will just keep on avoiding me. And I hope he stays forgotten

in my mind.

I don’t believe that he is my fated mate. How could someone like the crown prince ever be paired with someone like me? He is entirely above my league, far too powerful, and far too intense. Not to mention that

he already has a mate.

The person I actually believe might be my mate is Prince Roman. He makes sense to me.

A few days ago, Roman had explained what really happened the night I was taken. He told me that we had almost mated at the bonfire party. He said we were feeling the pull of the bond, but because of the sudden demon attack, we couldn’t finish the mate bonding process.

Yesterday, we were sitting together at the school cafe, sharing a drink. Roman had looked at me, his eyes full of concern as he reached out to hold my hand.

“Lyra,” Roman had said, voice dropping into a serious tone. “I want to mate with you as soon as possible. The demons are still out there, and you aren’t safe. Since I am a prince, I can protect you from any harm once you are officially mine. Let me do this for you.”

I looked down at our joined hands, and felt hesitant. “Roman, I appreciate how much you care about me, I really do,” I told him gently, pulling my hand back slightly. “But I’m just not sure yet. Everything feels so incredibly confusing right now, and my head still hurts when I try to think about the bond. I need some time to figure things out.”

Roman had looked visibly disappointed for a brief second, his shoulders dropping. But he smiled softly at me. Then he lifted my hand and pressed a soft kiss on the back of it.

“I understand, Ly,” Roman said softly, looking into my eyes. “I will wait for you. Take all the time you need

to heal.”

Thinking about it now, Roman is actually so sweet and patient with me. He doesn’t yell at me or try to force

me to acknowledge him. I would definitely be lucky to have a guy like him for a mate.

But there is still one problem. Without Wyndra, how can a mate bond even be completed? Both the beast

and the human must consent for it to work.

I let out a heavy sigh, feeling very empty as I think about Wyndra. Another thing I apparently lost during the attack is my connection with my fox. I can’t feel her presence at all. It feels like a vital part of my soul

was ripped away.

The doctor had explained the situation to me during my last checkup. He said that along with losing some of my memories, the severe trauma caused me to lose the thread of the bond with my fox for some unknown reason. But he assured me it doesn’t mean that Wyndra doesn’t exist within me anymore. He said it just means she is locked somewhere too deep within my own consciousness, hiding away until my body fully recovers from the head injury.

I hope with all my heart that one day, Wyndra will return back to me. I feel so alone without her voice in my head. Maybe when she finally wakes up, Wyndra will be able to help me remember exactly what happened to me when I was taken by those creatures. I need to remember what happened. It feels very important, like a dangerous puzzle piece that is missing from my life.

Just then, the sound of my bedroom door being open breaks me out of my thoughts.

The door opens, and Isolde peeps her head inside. She catches my eye and flashes a bright, cheerful smile. “Are you awake, sleepyhead?”
