Chapter 292
I stare at Sin in surprise, trying to process the heavy information. “So your entire species… you’re all like… cursed?”
“Yes,” Sin says, looking directly into my eyes with a desperate expression. “We hate what we have become, Rai, We hate the monsters we are forced to be.
And that is exactly why I am not against Lyra Diamond. That is why Lwill never harm her.”
I furrow my brow in confusion. “What does Lyra have to do with your curse?”
“She is the only one in this world who can fix this, Kai,” Sin says, his voice trembling with a sudden wave of intense emotion. “Only the phoenix silver for has the pure healing powers strong enough to cleanse dark demonic corruption. Only her essence can undo what has been done to my kind. I’m awwre stu healed you the moment she touched your heart. Your heart no longer stops. It’s because of her phoenix powers. She is the cure to our curse. If she dies, or your father gets his hands on her and drains her power for his twisted experiments, my people will remain monsters forever.”
He steps closer to me, extending his hand across the desk in an offer of a truce. “If you decide to go against your father to protect her… if you decide to fight back against King Geo, the Monpire clan will be completely on your side, Kai. We will fight with you. We will help you protect her. Just keep her safe
until she is strong enough to help us.”
I stare at his outstretched pale blue hand, my mind completely blown by the revelation. An alliance with the monpires. A way to fight my father.
Before I can even open my mouth to respond to Sin’s proposition, a sudden rush of panic hits me right in the center of my chest.
It is so intense that it makes me stumble backward, my hand flying to my heart as my breath leaves my lungs in a painful gasp. And then, a sound echoes directly inside my mind.
It is a scream. A distant, blood-curdling, terrified scream.
It is Lyra’s voice. She’s in trouble!
Vlad instantly wakes up with a furious, deafening roar that completely shatters my consciousness. She’s in danger! Kai, our mate is in danger right now! Let me out so we can run to her immediately! If anyone touches her, we kill them all!
The bond between us is pulsing frantically, screaming at me that she is terrified, her heart rate spiking in horror back at the academy.
I snap my head up, looking at Sin with wide, panicked eyes. “I have to go right now!” I shout, not wasting a single second to explain.
“Kai, wait!” Sin calls out behind me, stepping forward. “What happened? What did you feel?”
I don’t answer him. I don’t care about his alliance, his curse, or his explanations right now. The only thing that matters is Lyra.
I sprint out of his apartment, tearing down the palace hallways in a blur of speed. The moment I burst through the back exit of the palace and hit the open grounds, I don’t even care who sees me. I pull off my clothes as my body expands, my bones cracking and reshaping in a second as I shift completely mes

Vlad lets out a furious roar that echoes across the valley, and then we launch forward. Vlad zooms the the thick woods, massive pews teating up the dirt and leaves as we spent toward the academy at a speed that breaks the wind.

academy campus, I slide to a stop and quickly shift back into my human form in a hidden space, my breathing heavy and rough, sweat dripping down my hare chest. I pull my clothes back on quickly before sprinting toward the I dorm buildings.
I can already scent her in the air. The sweet, intoxicating scent of vanilla and flowers is heavy, drifting from her building. I focus entirely on the scent, tracking it like a predator. Thank the Goddess, there is no scent of fresh blood or injury on her. She isn’t physically hurt.
