Chapter 301
“Tell him. Just tell him the truth. Trustshim.’
I freeze instantly, my eyes widening in absolute shock. The voice echoes sharply inside my head, loud and clear. But it doesn’t sound like Wyndra’s voi
all. This voice sounds entirely different and almost magical. It has a beautiful, smooth ring to it that echoes my entire mind with each word.
Wait, who was that? Am I seriously starting to hear random things now? Am I completely losing my mind because of all the stress?
The mysterious voice lets out a soft chuckle in my head, sounding amused by my panic.
‘You’re a hybrid, Astra. Figure it out. Also, follow your heart, not what others tell you.”
Did the voice just call me Astra?
‘What does that mean? And where’s Wyndra? Why can’t I feel her properly?’ I ask immediately, my heard racing.
*She’s somewhere lost inside your locked memories,’ the voice replies smoothly, calm and reassuring. ‘You just need to find her.’
The magical voice echoes one last time before it slowly fades away, disappearing deep into the back of my mind until everything goes completely quiet again. I just stand there, totally confused and overwhelmed. I feel like my brain is spinning in circles.
Suddenly, I feel warm hands grab my face. The touch instantly yanks me out of my own head. I blink a few times, and Kai’s face comes back into focus. H holding my cheeks with his large hands, his fingers warm against my skin.
“Lyra? Are you alright?” Kai asks, his face twisting with deep worry as he looks down at me. “You completely zoned out for a minute there. You didn’t eve blink. Look at me. What’s going on in your mind right now? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
I look up into Kai’s handsome but worried face. The fierce, angry prince who punched Roman not too long ago is totally gone, and he just looks genuinely concerned about my well-being. I take a quick breath and try to clear my throat. “I…I’m fine,” I tell him, trying to make my voice sound normal. “I just… I feel a bit weak all of a sudden. My legs feel like jelly.”
Before I can even say another word or try to take a step away, Kai instantly moves. He bends down and scoops me up into his arms in one smooth motion, lifting me off the ground before I can even process what’s happening.
A loud yelp escapes me as I wind my arms tightly around his neck to hold on to him, so I don’t fall. He seels completely solid and incredibly warm against
“What… what are you doing, Kai?” I ask, my voice sounding a bit breathy and startled as I stare at him.
Kai just looks down at me with that familiar, playful sirk returning to his lips. “What does it look like? I’m taking you to bed, genius.”
My whole body instantly feels warm, and can feel a massive flush spreading across my face and neck. His deep voice literally vibrates straight through his chest and into my own body, making me tingle in places I didn’t even know exist. It’s a completely crazy, intense reaction, and it makes my heart flip in way
chest,
“Put me down, Kai. I can walk,” I say, trying to sound firm, though I don’t actually pull away
“No, you can’t,” he says simply, continuing to walk down the hall. “You just said your legs feel like jelly. I’m out risking you falling over.”
