Chapter 313
Lyra
I stand completely frozen, the night air is trapped in my chest. My eyes widen in absolute shock as I stare at the scene in front of me. Kal is not alone. There is a strange girl standing right there in the hallway, wrapped tightly around his waist, holding onto him like they have been deeply in love for years.
The sight makes a violent wave of heat surge all over my body. I feel like my body is catching on fire with pure rage and jealousy. My hands clench into tight fists at my sides, a strange, electric heat tingling under my skin. It feels so intense, so raw, that I feel like I’m about to shoot out literal lasers from my fingertips to burn them both to ash.
When I woke up from sleep just a few minutes ago, the bed felt cold. I was expecting to find him next to me, but there was nothing but
empty sheets. I immediately got worried, my mind spinning out of control as I realized he was gone. My thoughts kept racing, wondering
where he could have gone that early. What if he went back to the apartment? What if he is in danger? With all the creepy notes and the bloodsoaked sheets from yesterday, I couldn’t breathe normally. I grabbed my phone and quickly sent him a text, waiting for a reply. Nothing. Silence. Unable to just sit there and panic, I decided that I would go down and find him myself.
Only for me to come down and see this.
I look at her hands gripped tightly around his bare torso, and a bitter smile spreads on my face. I step forward, my footsteps completely
silent against the floor.
“I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?” I say, my voice dripping with cold sarcasm.
Kai violently snaps his head toward me, his green eyes widening in absolute horror. The girl doesn’t move, but I don’t care.
“I’ll just leave you to it then,” I say, spinning around.
The moment the words leave my mouth, Kai’s expression completely fractures. He immediately pushes the girl away from his body, shoving her off like she is a contagious disease, and turns to me.
“Lyra, wait! It’s not what it looks like!” he shouts, his deep voice cracking with panic. He rushes over to me, his long strides covering the distance in a single second.
But before he can reach out to touch my shoulder, I turn on my heel and step inside the open elevator. I slam my finger onto the key that will close the door, wanting nothing more than to hide from his face. Kai lunges forward as the metal doors begin to slide shut. He shoves his leg right in between the closing doors, forcing the sensors to trigger and making the metal bounce back open.
I glare at him, my voice trembles with fury as I step forward and lean into him. “Don’t you dare come in after me, Kai. I swear to the Goddess, if you step into this elevator, I will scream the whole place down. I will make sure every single guard, student, and royal wakes up right now.”
Kai doesn’t even blink at my threat. He ignores me completely and steps right into the enclosed space, his towering height completely

taking over the small lift. He doesn’t even turn to look at the girl who’s watching both of us silently.
The doors slide shut behind him, trapping us together in the tight space.
“Go ahead and scream,” Kai says in a rough, deep voice. “I don’t care if you wake up the entire academy, Lyra. But I am not letting you
walk off just like that without listening to me.”
I let out a mocking laugh, leaning my back against the cold wall. I stare up at his stubborn jawline, the anger inside me boiling over. “Oh, right. I forgot who I was talking to. You think you can do absolutely anything you want just because you’re a crown prince, right? Well, news flash, Kai, you can’t control me. You don’t own me, and you don’t get to tell me what to do.”
Kai clenches his jaw so tight a muscle leaps in his cheek. His eyes flash with a mixture of frustration and pain. “I am not trying to control
