Chapter 47
Lyra
I step out of the glass chamber, my legs still feeling like they belong to someone else. Professor Walker is standing right there. He has a weird expression on his face, something between curiosity and disbelief. He raises his hand and signals for me to come over to him.
My heart thumps in my chest as I wonder if he is about to fail me because I didn’t shift into a wolf. I force myself to keep a neutral face as I walk toward him. No matter what he says, I have to stay calm. I cannot let him see how much this matters to me.
“Hi, Professor Walker,” I say as I reach him.
“Hello, Lyra Diamond. Congratulations,” he says. A small, warm smile spreads across his face. “I have to say, I are impressed. I didn’t expect you to understand the basis of the test so easily. Most students listen to their claws instead of their mind. They waste their energy fighting shadows with teeth and
claws and failing in the end due to fear. You didn’t lose your composure. You didn’t even try to fight.”
A wave of relief washes over me. I relax my shoulders and finally let out a breath. “Th–Thank you, Professor.”
“You passed with a high rating,” he continues, tapping a tablet in his hand. “When you walk out of these grounds, you will have access to the full student portal. You can choose your own dorm to stay in here at the academy. You can also pick specific programs and classes you want to take and attend events.
You’ve earned your place as a student, not just an observer.”
My eyes widen as I feel a surge of genuine excitement. I can’t believe this. It’s almost too good to be true! Krypton academy has been the best thing to
happen to me. I can feel wyndra’s happiness within me as well.
“Thank you so much,” I tell him. I give him a quick nod and head toward the main exit.
When I step outside the Proving Grounds, the bright morning sun hits me. I make my way to the open field where the other students are gathered. The atmosphere is filled with a mix of emotions. Some people are jumping with excitement, hugging their friends and celebrating in their wolf forms. Some others sit on the grass with their heads in their hands, looking completely downcast.
“Lyra!”
I turn around to see Amara and Isolde running toward me. They both look ecstatic. They reach me and pull me into a group hug that nearly falls me down.
“We passed! We both passed!” Amara squeals happily. “Thank the Goddess I listened to Isolde. She told me not to focus on my wolf strength and just focus
on keeping calm. I almost shifted, but I held back and it worked!.”
୮
Isolde nods, her expression more composed. “I figured testing with our wolves would have been too predictable. i had a feeling the first test would not be
what most students were expecting, like shifting and fighting,”
“I agree with you, That’s exactly how it felt for me.” I say.
They both look at me expectantly. “Well? Did you pass?” Isolde asks.
“I did,” I say with a grip.
They both squeal again and hug me happily. Amara starts talking a mile a minute about our future. “We can all choose the same dorm block! We’ll be neighbors. We can study together and sneak out to the forest after hours. It’s going to be perfect!.”
I smile at them and nod along, but deep down, I’m not sure if that will be possible. Not when Prince Kai exists. I think about the way he looks at me like I’m

a puzle he wants to solve.
I want to believe I can just move into a dorm like a normal student. But I know Kai. He is possessive, and he is a Prince who is used to getting what he wants. I don’t think he will let me stay in my own room where he can’t make my life miserable 24 hours a day. He bought me to be his slave, and I doubt a passing grade on a test is going to change his mind about that.
“How about Erika?” Amara asks, glancing around the crowded field. “I hope she passed. Have either of you seen her?”
