The Lycan Prinee’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)
Chapter 50
Instead, everything is falling apart. The friendship I have started to cherish is crumbling all because of a damned test.
I glare at Erika, my chest heaving with a mix of hurt and annoyance.
“Look, I know you’ve had a long day,” say, my voice trembling but firm. “I know you feel defeated after the test. But that doesn’t give you the right to talk like this to people who are just looking out for you. It isn’t our fault that things didn’t go as planned for you, Erika. We were literally trying to cheer you
up.”
My eyes fill with tears of frustration as I talk. I hate that our first win as a group is being spoiled like this. I wish Erika didn’t fail her test.
Erika stares at me for a long moment before her expression starts crumbling as the reality of her words sinks in. Suddenly, she starts shaking.
Heavy sobs wrack her body as she steps forward and throws her arms around me.
“Oh, goddess. I’m so sorry, Lyra.” she chokes out into my shoulder. “I don’t know what the hell came over me. I’m so sorry.”
She pulls back just enough to look at Amara and Isolde, her face a mask of shame. “I’m sorry to you both, too. I know you care about me. I’m just being a
bitch because I failed. I took it out on the only people who actually give a damn about me.”

I hug her back, feeling the tension drain out of my muscles. “It’s okay,” I mutter against her hair.
“It’s not okay,” Erika insists, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. “I deserve to be punished for acting like that.”
I manage a small smile and nudge her shoulder. “Then We’ll punish you with the spiciest pasta in the cafeteria. You have to eat the whole bowl.”
I reach for her hand to pull her toward the doors of the dining hall, but Erika/steps back. She gives us a weak, sad wave. “No. I’m sorry, but I think I just need to be alone for a bit. I need to clear my head and… I don’t know. Just be alone.”
“Wait…Erika…” I move to stop her, but Amara and Isolde both place a hand on my arms, stopping me.
‘Let her go, Lyra,” Amara says softly. “She probably just needs some time to process everything. Pushing her now might just make it worse.”
I stand there and watch Erika walk away. She keeps her head down, her shoulders dropped as she disappears into the crowd. My heart breaks for her. I hate
that I can’t do anything to fix this for her. I silently pray to the Moon Goddess that she passes her next text.

The three of us eventually make our way into the cafe. The smell of garlic and toasted bread fills the air, but I’ve lost my appetite. We find a table in the
corner and order our food, our conversation is all about what the next set of assessments might entail. Amara and Isolde speculate about combat trials and
scent–tracking, but my mind is miles away.
I find myself thinking about Mai.
I haven’t seen him since the middle of the night, since I watched his heart stop and felt that terrifying power leave my body to bring him back. The memory
of his hand in my hair and the confused look in his eyes haunts me.
I need to know about these strange abilities. I’m a wolfless Omega. I shouldn’t be able to restart a Lycan’s heart with a touch.
I reach out mentally, trying to find my ghost wolf. Wyndra? I think. You better be ready to explain a lot to me before the next test in two weeks. I can ́t keep doing this in the dark.‘

Wynd- doesn’t even bother to answer me. I decide that might have to find answers by myself. Maybe I’m not so worthless after all. Maybe there’s sumething in me that’s worth looking for.
