The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Kai

I stand my ground, facing my father head-on even though his glare is sharp enough to cut through skin. He is the King, one of the

most powerful Lycans in the world, and I just defied him in front of the entire Academy. I don’t care if he decides to punish me for

defending Lyra. I’m prepared to accept whatever he throws at me.

Everything I’ve done lately has been an attempt to keep Lyra off his radar. I know I shouldn’t have enrolled her in the Academy was a risk from the start, but when I heard her say she wished she could study here, all I wanted was to give her that opportunity. Now, watching the predatory way my father set his eyes on her, I’m almost regretting it.

A part of me wishes I had just left her to be killed by my father back then. It would have been simpler. But the other part of me- the part that is becoming dangerously obsessed with her-doesn’t regret saving her for a second. There is something about Lyra Diamond that I can’t let go of. I won’t let go until I’ve figured her out. In the beginning, I told myself it was just lust and the strange bond I felt for her, but now I know it’s more.

I need to know why and how she revived me. There is also Vlad, my wolf. He keeps insisting she’s our soulmate. He tells me she is the only thing that will heal my bad heart.

But he’s wrong. What my father did, the crime he committed is too grave for my heart to be healed. Why should my heart heal because of something as fragile as love? Love doesn’t fix a broken soul.

We are standing in the Principal’s office, facing each other in left the arena, I ordered Lyra to go to Kara’s apartment and I followed my father immediately. I had to stop him in case he decided to do something crazy behind my back.

If only my guards had informed me that the King was visiting the Academy today, I would’ve locked Lyra in my apartment until he was gone. I would have kept her out of sight. Now, the secret is out. He saw her fight. He saw her move.

The Academy’s Principal, Gamma Richard, walks in with a stack of papers in his hand. The moment he sees the King and me standing in the middle of his office, his eyes widen and he nearly drops everything.

Chapter 68

“Hello, Richard, good of you to finally join us. You see… I have questions that need answering.” my father says, his voice dropping to

a dangerous edge as he watches Richard.

Fuck. I know exactly how this is going to go. My father will threaten Richard for admitting Lyra into the Academy.

Richard freezes for a moment. He looks between my father and me, his face draining of color. He tries to force a polite smile, but his

hands are shaking so hard that the papers he’s holding are vibrating.
