The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90

In the middle of the hall, there is massive bonfire structure. It’s magnetic and beautiful, the flames crackling with an orange light that seems to pull everyone toward it.

I look up and realize the ceiling directly above the bonfire is open to the night sky. The moon is already starting to turn a deep red color, and it’s currently shining down on everyone like a spotlight. It feels heavy, angost like it’s pressing against my skin.

“Wow,” Isolde whispers, her eyes wide as she looks around the hall. “I think the effects of the red moon have already begun.”

I look around the room and immediately feel my cheeks heating up. In several corners of the hall, I see several couples already making out in such a passionate way that it makes me want to look away. The air feels thick and charged with something powerful and ancient, like a pull that’s hard to describe but impossible to ignore. It’s really beautiful, but it’s also overwhelming.

Just then, someone taps my shoulder from behind, making me jump slightly in surprise. I turn to find Roman standing there. He looks very good.

He’s wearing a tailored suit that fits his lean frame perfectly, with a white shirt and a red bow tie that makes him look gentlemanly. His hair is styled back, and he has this admiring look on his face that makes me smile at me.

“Hi, Roman”

“Hi, Lyra,” he replies. He doesn’t wait for my

ends to say anything as he takes my hand and pulls me a few steps away from the group. He looks me up and down, his eyes lingering on the cleavage part of my dress. “Woah. You look too beautiful tonight, Lyra.”

Before I can respond, he lifts my hand and kisses my knuckles softly, his eyes never leaving mine.

“Um…thank you Ro-”

My heart skips a beat as a feeling hits me, a prickling sensation on the back of my neck.

Someone is watching me.

I shift my gaze, and my eyes instantly find Prince Kai standing at the far end of the room. He has his hands in his pockets, leaning against a pillar, and he is glaring at Roman and me with a look that could kill. He looks lethally handsome in an all-black suit, the dark fabric making his dark hair stand out even

more.

My heart does a flip as he pushes off the pillar and starts walking toward us. He looks determined, every stride predatory. I quickly drag my hand away from Roman’s, not wanting another scene like the one in the glass house.

Just before Kai reaches us, Damon suddenly comes up from behind and sidesteps him. He moves fast and stops right in front of me and pulls me into a quick, friendly side-hug.

“Hey, Lyra of level one! Damon says loudly, his voice clear and playful. “You look splendid tonight! Absolutely stunning!

It’s obvious what he’s doing. He’s trying to diffuse the rising tension before Kai does something everyone will regret. I’m glad he quickly stepped in.

Kai stops just a few feet away, his chest heaving with anger. Thankfully, he doesn’t try to pull me off Damon, but he doesn’t look relased either. He ignores me and Dainon, turning his angry stare to Roman.

Roman doesn’t flinch. He glares back, facing Kai squarely.

Chapter 90

Leary, Roman, Kai says in a voice that is so low and dangerous that it vibrates in the air.

Roman actually smiles, though there’s no humor in it. ‘You’re going to have to uproot me from here, Kai. I’m not going anywhere.”

I look around and realize people are starting to notice. The music is still playing, but the circle of space around us is growing as students realize a royal fight is probably about to happen. Oh no. Not again. I can’t let this shit happen.

I step forward slightly. “Roman, please,” I say, touching his arm, “Just… please leave. I don’t want a scene.”

Roman looks at me silently for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then he suddenly steps closer to me, making me shift a step backward to avoid colliding into him. What’s he doing? Does he not value his bones???
