Lucia Beaumont thought to herself, "Since the young maid bowed so deeply her forehead nearly touched the floor, shouldn't I reward her with a Talisman of Warding?"
Poppy quickly rose to her feet and scurried off, returning moments later with a steaming cup of herbal broth.
Lucia took the cup, entirely focused on her drink.
At that moment, however, her thoughts drifted to Prince Jareth. When would he finally leave the royal palace? Once he returned to his estate, it would be much easier for her to visit and absorb some of his vital energy.
The royal palace was heavily guarded, after all.
She cupped the warm broth, feeling a pang of melancholy. "Alas, another day spent missing Jareth."
Lady Forrester finally ceased her weeping, her cries having roused Eleonora from her slumber.
The moment Eleonora woke, her mind instantly went to her hand. She broke into sobs. "Mother, I... have I become a monster?"
If she was not a monster, why had her perfectly healthy hand withered like an old crone's?
"Eleonora, it is over. You are perfectly fine," Lady Forrester hurriedly lifted her daughter's hand so she could see clearly. "Look, you are healed!"
Eleonora stared with wide eyes.
"My hand..." Was it truly restored?
Just then, Physician Finch noticed her eyes. They were completely clear.
"My lady, your eyes?"
Eleonora laughed through her tears. "Mother, I can see you clearly. The red veil is gone from my vision..."
She was truly cured!
Lady Forrester embraced her, bursting into fresh tears of joy.
Lord Roderick Forrester patted his wife's shoulder, his voice thick with emotion. "There now. Eleonora is healed, and it is a blessing. Dry your tears. Help her up so she can thank Lady Lucia."
Remembering her manners, Lady Forrester hastily wiped her eyes and helped her daughter sit up.
"Quickly, Eleonora. Give your profound thanks to Lady Lucia. She is the one who saved you."
Still utterly bewildered, Eleonora murmured her gratitude to Lady Lucia.
She had no idea what had transpired; she only saw the young woman sitting in her chamber, calmly sipping her broth.
