The members of House Beaumont were certainly blessed with excellent looks.
Among them, Aurelia was arguably the most beautiful.
Aside from the children, there were two young women—one elegant, the other alluring. These were likely Alistair's companions.
She had heard Alistair also had two sons, though they were away at a monastic school.
While Lucia observed them, they were thoroughly inspecting her as well.
"Hey, I'm talking to you! Are you deaf?" Selena's face flushed crimson when Lucia ignored her.
Alistair remained silent, his face dark, clearly waiting to hear Lucia's response.
He was still reeling from the shock!
He had fully expected Prince Jareth to find a way to torture Lucia, yet it had turned out to be a marriage decree!
"Who are you?" Lucia asked, glancing lazily at Selena.
"If you hadn't come back, I would be the second daughter of this house! My name is Selena! Aurelia is the clouds, and I am the moon. We are the highest and purest in the sky. What the hell are you?"
Selena had been informed barely an hour ago that she was now relegated to the position of the third daughter, and she was furious.
Why should a filthy country bumpkin be placed above her?
Lucia smiled and gave the royal decree a casual wave. "The king just betrothed me. I am now Prince Jareth's future wife. What do you think I am?"
"You're just a village girl! A vulgar embarrassment from the countryside! Prince Jareth belongs to Lady Marquis—"
"Selena!"
Alistair snapped, realizing the danger, and instantly shut her down.
The royal decree had already been issued. Dragging the Prime Minister's daughter into this now would be a direct insult to her reputation!
He could not afford to offend Lord Marquis.
Aurelia quickly clamped a hand over her younger sister's mouth.
Lady Marquis?
Lucia had already looked at Jareth's face earlier and seen absolutely no threads of romantic destiny. Where did this 'Lady Marquis' come from?
