The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 131

It took a long moment, but Claire finally snapped back to her senses.

Adrian stared her down, his eyes piercing.

"I asked you a question. How do you know that!"

The true nature of Adrian and Audrey's relationship was known only to Eleanor and Michelle.

Figuring Claire was too young, they had kept her in the dark.

They had specifically told her that Audrey used Adrian's frozen sperm purely to preserve Arthur's bloodline.

Claire started to stammer.

Adrian's patience was nonexistent. "Tell me! How did you find out!"

"I... I overheard you and Audrey talking that one time..."

Adrian wanted to hit something.

But this was his sister, and he couldn't bring himself to do it.

He forced himself to calm down, delivering a lethal warning.

"You breathe a word of this to anyone outside this house, and I mean anyone, you understand me?!"

Claire wasn't a total idiot. "Obviously! I've never told anyone."

Adrian felt a heavy tightness in his chest.

"Especially not to Jocelyn. You say absolutely nothing to her."

Claire looked genuinely confused.

"Doesn't that woman... already know?"

Adrian staggered back as if physically struck.

"What did you just say?"

Seeing his expression, Claire shrank back in fear and immediately confessed everything.

"That one time, I noticed she seemed awfully close with that CEO. I figured they might be having an affair, so I snuck into her room when she wasn't looking."

"And inside her desk drawer, I found a photo."

A cold chill washed over Adrian, and his heart hammered violently against his ribs.

"What... photo?"

"A photo of you and Audrey going to a hotel together."

When Adrian finally stumbled out of Claire's room, it took him a long time to process what had just happened.

Once reality fully settled in, he marched straight toward Jocelyn's room.

He howled in pain, his phone clattering to the floor.

Rubbing his stinging hand, he yelled, "What is your problem?!"

Jocelyn didn't waste breath arguing. She brought the duster down again, delivering several sharp, consecutive whacks.

Jeremy scrambled back like he'd been struck by lightning, nearly tripping over his own feet as he got away.

"Use your words! Psycho!"

Mindful of the baby in her stomach, Jocelyn didn't chase him.

From a distance, she grabbed a thick book off the side table and hurled it at him.

Jeremy ducked to save his head, but his body wasn't fast enough.

The heavy spine of the book slammed into his shoulder, making him wince and bare his teeth in pain.

Hearing the commotion, Diana and Marcus rushed out of their rooms.

Seeing the chaos, Marcus barely reacted. He assumed his son had just caused trouble again.

But Diana was absolutely heartbroken. She rushed over to check Jeremy for injuries.

"Jocelyn! Are you insane?! Do you have any idea what you're doing? How dare you hit my son!"

Jocelyn tightened her grip on the feather duster and took a step forward.
