By the next morning, Jocelyn went straight to Marcus's attending doctor and brought up the idea of transferring him to another hospital.
The doctor had heard of Dr. Abram Weldon and agreed it was worth a shot.
The only problem was that without Diana Evans' consent, a transfer was completely out of the question.
Jocelyn was beside herself with anxiety.
She stressed over it until the afternoon, when the hospital delivered the best news possible.
Dr. Weldon had arrived at the hospital in person!
Jocelyn couldn't believe her ears.
It wasn't until she was standing in the doctor's office, looking at the silver-haired older gentleman, that she finally believed it was real.
She could have dropped to her knees in gratitude.
The elderly doctor looked at her with a kind smile, pushing his reading glasses up his nose.
"Mr. Vance came to my door first thing this morning and pleaded with me for hours. He personally drove me here and even arranged a comfortable place for me to stay with staff to take care of my every need. I was so moved by his sincerity that I agreed to come."
Julian again...
Jocelyn didn't even know what to say anymore.
Not wanting to waste a single second, the hospital immediately organized a medical consultation.
They decided on a treatment plan that combined standard modern medicine with alternative natural healing therapies.
Dr. Weldon scrubbed in and entered the ICU to begin the acupuncture treatment.
Jocelyn stood guard outside the doors.
For the first time, she felt like hope was waving at her. The heavy knot of anxiety in her chest finally loosened a little.
"Miss Evans, this is your breakfast."
Jocelyn blinked in surprise. "I didn't order delivery."
The delivery person checked the slip. "It was ordered by a gentleman named Vance."
Julian?
Jocelyn suddenly remembered. After Julian had dropped off the specialist, he had left in a hurry.
He had looked like he had urgent business to attend to.
Jocelyn took the breakfast and pulled out her phone, wanting to call him.
Even just to say thank you.
But on second thought, a simple 'thank you' felt far too cheap for what he had done.
It would be better to wait until all of this was over and find a real way to repay him.
Jocelyn forced herself to eat.
A hard-boiled egg, a glass of milk, a small bowl of fresh berries, and a slice of avocado toast.
The nutritional balance was perfect, and it looked incredibly fresh.
Jocelyn's voice turned ice-cold. "So, whether my dad lives or dies just isn't important, is it?"
"That's not what I—"
"No, you're right," Jocelyn cut him off. "After all, the baby is the Lowell family's precious heir. I'm just an outsider, and my dad has nothing to do with you. Of course he doesn't matter."
With that, she hung up.
She couldn't stomach another second of Adrian's hypocritical act.
Just then, a nurse happened to walk by, pushing a medical cart.
Jocelyn cast a casual glance over it.
Her eyes locked onto a blood sample resting on the top tray.
Blood?
Oh.
She was going to verify for herself whether this precious baby boy was actually a true Lowell heir!
That night.
Jocelyn took the elevator up to the ninth floor.
Leo was in a VIP suite, which made it incredibly easy to find.
Staring at the door to the VIP room, the conversation between Adrian and Audrey echoed in her mind once again.
