The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 231

And yet, there Diana stood, parading around on her high horse, looking down on Jocelyn's entire existence with that insufferable, haughty posture.

They said karma always caught up to people. So where the hell was it?

Jocelyn took a few deep breaths.

"You ruined my biological mother's life and caused my father's death, all for your own selfish greed. Aren't you afraid you'll rot in hell for this?"

Diana scoffed.

"Rot in hell? Hell is just a fairy tale invented by losers to make themselves feel better! Besides, how dare you say I killed your mother and Marcus Evans!"

"Your mother was already severely depressed because your deadbeat father disappeared and never came back. Add a difficult childbirth to the mix, and she was a wreck. All I did was tell a few little white lies. How was I supposed to know she was so fragile that she'd completely lose her mind?"

"And as for Marcus, he had health issues to begin with! That had nothing to do with me! Why don't you bring up the fact that he was unfaithful to me first? He betrayed me, and this was his payback!"

Jocelyn was so choked with disgust she couldn't even speak.

She finally understood what it meant to be smooth-talking and utterly shameless.

In Diana's dictionary, she could do no wrong.

Jocelyn felt suffocated. The air in this house was toxic.

She just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.

"You just want the inheritance Dad left me, right? You can have it."

Diana stared at her, genuinely shocked.

"You've got to be joking. We're not talking about spare change here. This is billions of dollars in assets. You're walking away from that?"

Jocelyn replied coldly, "It's just money. If I want billions, I'm perfectly capable of earning it myself."

Diana looked at her like she was an idiot.

"Jocelyn, have you completely lost your mind?"

Jocelyn let out a bitter laugh. "I was out of my mind to not see you for what you really are until now. You're not even human, Diana. You're a monster."

Diana didn't get angry; instead, she laughed.

"Say whatever you want. I haven't done anything wrong. Am I at fault for making sure my family's fortune doesn't fall into the hands of an outsider?"

Jocelyn paused for a few seconds.

"Enough talking. The assets are yours. I don't want a single dime. Just tell me where my mother is."
