The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 232

"Once you sign this agreement, you have absolutely no ties to my family. Whatever happens between you and the Lowells from now on, don't you dare drag us into it."

Jocelyn almost laughed out loud.

Diana was absolutely terrified that once Jocelyn divorced Adrian Lowell, she would come crawling back to beg for money.

Without a word, Jocelyn picked up the pen and signed it.

"Are you satisfied?"

Diana was very pleased with how smoothly this was going.

"Perfect."

Jocelyn pressed her lips together and stayed silent for a few seconds.

"Are you planning to sell The Evans Group's shares to Adrian?"

Diana froze for a second.

"How did you know?"

Actually, Jocelyn didn't know for sure.

She was just baiting her.

Adrian had brought it up with Marcus before he died, and Jocelyn guessed that with her father gone, Adrian might have shifted his crosshairs to Diana.

"Did Adrian convince you to sell out The Evans Group?"

Diana couldn't be bothered to hide it anymore.

"His assistant did come to see me. He laid out the pros and cons, and honestly, he made a lot of sense. With just Jeremy and me, there's no way we can keep control of the entire corporation. The board is full of old, calculating sharks. Jeremy is no match for them. They'd chew him up and spit him out."

"Since that's the case, it's better to hand it over to someone capable. That way, your father's legacy can actually survive."

Jocelyn was at a loss for words.

Adrian really was ruthless.

He hadn't wasted a single second plotting to devour The Evans Group. With her father dead, his acquisition timeline had only accelerated.

Jocelyn asked one last, icy question.

"I'm going to ask you one more time: are you absolutely sure you're going to sell The Evans Group to Adrian?"

She gritted her teeth. "Fine! As soon as the sale goes through, I'll wire the money straight to you. That way we'll be completely done with each other."

Jocelyn stared at her for a long moment before dropping her final words.

"Don't regret this, Diana."

With that, she turned and walked away without looking back.

Jeremy came out of his room just in time to watch Jocelyn walk out the front doors of the Evans estate. The way she moved made it clear she was never coming back, and it left a sour taste in his mouth.

When the heavy doors clicked shut, it felt like two entirely different worlds had been sealed off from one another.

Jeremy looked at his mother's triumphant face and felt a sudden wave of disgust.

"Mom, doing this means you've completely cut off our relationship with her. But she's still your daughter... she's my sister."

Diana poked him hard in the forehead.

"Are you thick or something? Couldn't you see she's been eyeing our money this whole time? If she didn't leave, we'd be the ones out on the street."

"Dad is the one who left the estate to her," Jeremy argued. "She didn't ask for it. Besides, you guys were the ones who messed up. Dad was just trying to make up for what happened."
