"Ms. Lowell, are you so blind with obsession for Julian that you can't even see the rest of us standing right here? If there was actually something going on between them, do you think they'd drag a bunch of third wheels along? Can you use a little common sense for once? We're all just close friends. Got it?"
"Friends?" Claire pointed an accusing finger at Jocelyn.
"Don't let this woman fool you! She's vicious, and she's a master manipulator! She looks innocent, but she's always scheming, always trying to bleed people dry!"
Hearing this, no one even had the energy to be angry.
Anything that came out of Claire's mouth was bound to be pure garbage anyway.
Sarah couldn't hold back.
"The apple really doesn't fall far from the tree. You are a carbon copy of your mother."
Claire exploded.
"Who the hell do you think you are?! Don't you dare talk about my mother!"
Sarah was never one to back down from a fight. She went right for the jugular.
"I just did, what are you gonna do about it? And it's not just your mother—your grandmother is just as vile! Your entire family is a coven of toxic, manipulative witches. Honestly, I almost feel sorry for Adrian. Spending his life surrounded by a bunch of classless, scheming vipers who do nothing but twist the truth and destroy good people... it's no wonder he turned out so messed up."
"It's the classic case of lying down with dogs and waking up with fleas!"
"And now you've added Caleb Preston's daughter, the mistress, to the mix. Perfect! Now you've got enough for a whole game of bridge! The four of you are absolute leeches. You're not a family; you're a collection of literal demons!"
Sarah had shouted it all in one breath and was practically panting by the end.
Liam smirked, gently patting her on the back. "Pace yourself. It's not worth passing out over."
"You... you..."
Claire sputtered for what felt like an eternity, completely unable to form a coherent sentence. Finally, she shrieked,
"You're a crazy bitch!"
Sarah put her hands on her hips.
"Damn right I am! So you'd better get the hell out of here before I make you regret walking in!"
Claire was shaking with rage.
Everyone in the Lowell family was against her being with Julian.
Julian refused to be with her.
