She was quick on the uptake.
"Of course not," Jocelyn replied smoothly.
Audrey's brow furrowed, her gaze turning sharp. "With Adrian?"
Jocelyn gave a half-smile. "I don't make a habit of sneaking around. Have you forgotten, Miss Preston? Adrian and I are already divorced."
"Then who are you with?" Audrey demanded.
"Do I need to report my dating life to you?"
Audrey eyed her suspiciously. "You better face the reality of your divorce. Don't hold onto any delusions!"
Jocelyn found that hilarious. "What delusions?"
Audrey's eyes flashed with undisguised disgust. "I know you're bitter about the divorce. You're even more bitter about leaving the Lowell family and losing your luxurious lifestyle."
"And?" Jocelyn prompted.
"You hate me. You hate that I took Adrian from you, so you want revenge. You want to snatch him back."
Interesting. Jocelyn held back a laugh. Since she had time to kill, she decided to mess with her. "So smart. You figured it all out. How did you guess so accurately?"
Audrey's face changed instantly. "So it's true! That is what you're thinking!"
Jocelyn crossed her arms lazily. "Yep, exactly. So you'd better keep a close eye on your precious Adrian. Don't let me steal him away."
"You!" Audrey balled her hands into fists. "Adrian and I are getting married soon. You're destroying someone else's happiness! You're knowingly being the other woman!"
"Wow!" Jocelyn couldn't hold it back anymore and burst out laughing. "You're actually lecturing me about being the other woman? Didn't I learn that from you? You're the pioneer in that field."
Audrey raised her voice. "I'm not like you! Adrian loves me, and I love him. Our love is real. Your marriage was forced! You were just making do!"
A voice laced with quiet fury came from behind.
Jocelyn turned around. All traces of Julian's usual gentleness had vanished.
"I would hope your intelligence matched your appearance," he said coldly.
It took Audrey several seconds to process the insult. Apparently, they didn't match. "This is between her and me. What does it have to do with you?"
Julian looked at Jocelyn. She knew he was waiting for her permission.
If Audrey saw her with Julian today, she would definitely run back and tell Adrian. How would her ex-husband react when he found out she was hanging around his biggest rival? The thought alone was highly entertaining.
Jocelyn's lips curved up. "Allow me to introduce you. This is Mr. Vance, the CEO of Vanguard Tech. And as for me, I currently work for him."
Julian met Audrey's gaze. "So, she is my employee. You disrespecting my employee—does that have anything to do with me?"
