The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 341

Sarah turned her head away, refusing to look at him. "I'm not that cheap!"

Liam tapped her forehead. "Are you out of your mind today? Can't you speak like a normal person?"

Sarah bit her lip. "My head hurts. I want to go back to sleep."

Liam scooped her up in his arms. "Sleep here. You've already crashed here all night, what's a few more hours?"

"Stay in bed! I'll go buy you some clothes and grab us food!"

Sarah was placed on the mattress. Liam took off her coat, and she didn't put up a fight.

"Please, I'm begging you," Liam said helplessly. "Just get some good sleep. Stop overthinking. Let's pretend today never happened, and from now on, we're still best buddies."

Sarah lay back and pulled the blanket over her head. "Get out."

Liam muttered under his breath, "I must owe you from a past life. I've been doing whatever I want for so long, and I somehow ended up stuck with you."

He stopped before leaving the room. "Sarah."

Hearing him use her actual name made Sarah freeze. Time seemed to stand still for a few seconds.

"Julian is my best buddy, and Jocelyn is my good partner and friend. Don't hurt them."

Sarah remained silent for a few seconds.

She knew exactly what he meant, but she spoke up out of sheer stubbornness.

"And what if I do?"

Silence stretched between them.

Unable to help herself, Sarah pulled the blanket down and looked at him.

His expression was terrifyingly serious, and his voice was ice-cold.

"Then I'd despise you to my core. And from then on, you wouldn't exist in my world anymore."

It took Sarah a long time to recover.

Was this the same carefree, cynical Liam?

His tone and expression just now had been genuinely frightening.

Two days later.

Julian took Sarah and two other technicians out of town to attend The International AI Robotics Competition expo.

Jocelyn stayed behind at Vanguard Tech, burying herself in preparations for the upcoming competition.

That evening, long after everyone else had clocked out, Jocelyn was still hard at work in her office.

Chloe Young knocked and walked in.

"Jocelyn, it's time to head home."
