Vanguard Tech?
The fog in Adrian's brain finally cleared.
Was she working for Vanguard Tech now?
That was impossible.
Everyone in the industry knew Julian Vance had astronomically high standards for hiring.
Why would Julian hire a woman who had been out of the workforce for years?
Furthermore!
She knew perfectly well that Vanguard was his company's biggest rival. What was her agenda?
A barrage of questions swirled in his mind, making it impossible for him to sit still.
"Audrey, wait here. I need to go greet Mr. Charlie."
Audrey forced a smile, playing the part of an understanding partner.
"Okay. I'll be right here."
Adrian quickly walked away.
Audrey slammed her silverware onto the table, her expression twisting with resentment.
When Adrian entered the private room, Jocelyn remained perfectly composed.
She had guessed this jerk wouldn't just pretend he hadn't seen her.
Just as she was about to speak, Mr. Charlie exclaimed.
"Mr. Lowell! What a coincidence."
He spoke in French, naturally.
Adrian replied in the same language.
Though compared to Jocelyn, his pronunciation was noticeably stiffer.
Jocelyn leaned back in her chair, watching impassively as the men exchanged traditional cheek kisses in greeting.
Charlie pulled out a chair for Adrian, and they quickly fell into an enthusiastic conversation.
Jocelyn caught the gist of it.
They weren't talking business, just exchanging pleasantries.
Even though their previous deal had fallen through, they clearly harbored no bad blood.
Adrian's gaze kept drifting back to Jocelyn.
Charlie was an observant man and immediately caught the undercurrents.
"Are you and Miss Evans good friends, Mr. Lowell?"
"No."
