After a long pause, Adrian finally spoke.
"You look beautiful today."
"I look beautiful every day," she fired back.
His lips curved upward. "Are you going to tell me how many other secrets you kept from me during our marriage?"
She tilted her head, giving him a cold look.
"Did I hide things, or did you just never care to ask?"
That instantly shut him up.
She was right.
He hadn't wanted to know.
How many times had she tried to strike up a conversation with him, only to be met with his icy dismissal?
"I had no idea you spoke French."
A mocking smirk played on her lips.
"I graduated from Northwood University on a full scholarship every single year. French is nothing. My English and Japanese are even better."
Adrian's expression tightened.
"What was your major?"
"Take a guess."
He looked her up and down. "Stop playing games. Even if you don't tell me, I can find out."
He just hadn't bothered to investigate her before.
Because he hadn't cared enough to learn a single thing about her.
Jocelyn wasn't planning on keeping it a secret anymore, but she had no intention of making it easy for him either.
"Go ahead and look it up then."
"One last question," Adrian said, an undercurrent of irritation creeping into his voice.
She was blatantly resisting him at every turn.
"Why Vanguard Tech? Don't you know they are my biggest competitor?"
Her eyes turned frosty.
"We're divorced. Where I work and what I do is none of your business."
"Besides, I'm not some pathetic pushover. The Lowell family humiliated me and threw me out on the street. Did you really expect me to factor in your feelings?"
Adrian hesitated, letting out a faint sigh.
