Jocelyn's dark eyes flickered. "I've heard of him."
Adrian's interest was immediately piqued. "Can you find him?"
"What do you want with him?"
"They say he's a computer genius, a master hacker. If I could get him to join my company, we'd be unstoppable. Momentum AI would dominate the market."
Jocelyn gave a faint smile. "He could certainly do that."
Forgetting his anger entirely, Adrian pressed, "You sound like you know him. Can you help me find him?"
"No."
Adrian's face fell. "You're my wife. Don't you care about the future of this company at all?"
"What I mean is, I've only heard things. I don't actually know him."
The flicker of hope in Adrian's eyes died.
"So you've just been wasting my time."
Jocelyn scoffed internally.
His ability to be charming one second and dismissive the next was truly impressive.
His voice turned cold again. "Did you think I wasn't coming, so you could flirt with other men without a care in the world? No wonder you dressed up so much tonight."
Jocelyn froze.
She never imagined such ugly words would come out of Adrian's mouth.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
"How was I flirting?"
His gaze was heavy. "What more did you want to do? If I hadn't shown up, were you going to make an excuse not to come home tonight?"
"Adrian," Jocelyn said, her patience gone, "watch your mouth."
"Jocelyn!" he roared back, refusing to be outdone. "Don't you forget who you are!"
He stared at her, enraged. "How dare you!"
She glared back, undaunted. "Adrian Lowell, you listen to me. This is the first time you've ever laid a hand on me, and it will be the last. If you ever touch me again, I will make you pay a price you can't even imagine."
Looking into her eyes, which now stared at him like he was an enemy, Adrian slowly lowered his hand.
Those eyes were beautiful, but right now, they were terrifying.
"Get out! Get out of my sight!"
Jocelyn smoothed her hair, opened the car door, and stepped out.
She turned and quickly disappeared into the night.
Watching her leave without a single glance back, Adrian slammed his fist on the steering wheel.
He had a last-minute meeting and wasn't planning on picking her up.
But after refusing her family the loan and knowing Claire had upset her, he'd decided to go and give her a nice surprise.
