Jocelyn rolled her eyes.
"Are we close enough to be having this conversation?"
Diana surprisingly didn't lose her temper.
"I saw the news and could barely believe it, so I wanted to verify. You must be laughing your head off right now. After all those years of misery in the Lowell family, you finally got your revenge. Feels amazing, doesn't it?"
Jocelyn pinched the bridge of her nose.
"I'm hanging up."
Psycho.
She called just to spout this kind of garbage?
Diana hastily stopped her.
"Wait, I actually need a favor."
Jocelyn scoffed. "With your current social standing, you actually need a favor from me?"
Diana: "No matter how high someone's status is, there's always something they can't handle alone."
*Shameless as always,* Jocelyn thought to herself.
"Whatever it is, ask someone else. I can't help you."
Diana completely ignored the rejection.
"Your brother's birthday is coming up. I want to throw him a proper birthday banquet. Obviously, I don't want to make it too flashy—just a nice dinner with our close relatives and friends. But the venue absolutely has to be top-tier. I thought about it, and Aurelia is the only place that fits."
Jocelyn subconsciously shot Julian a glance, already realizing exactly what kind of "favor" this was going to be.
"But booking a private room at Aurelia is nearly impossible, let alone securing The Dynasty Suite."
The Dynasty Suite was Aurelia's most exclusive, luxurious room.
It featured a private dining hall, card tables, karaoke, and panoramic views of the entire city skyline.
It was the only one of its kind, meaning the waitlist was astronomically long.
Having money wasn't enough to get a reservation there.
Claiming it was just a birthday party for her son was a thin excuse. Diana really just wanted to use the opportunity to flaunt her immense wealth.
Bluntly put, she wanted to show off in front of the relatives.
She had everything ready, except for the venue.
Diana had called Aurelia multiple times, only to be told that the suite was booked solid for that day.
Desperate, she had no choice but to call Jocelyn.
She had heard through the grapevine that Jocelyn was on very good terms with the owner of Aurelia.
Jocelyn rejected her without a second thought.
"I can't help you."
Diana refused to let the opportunity slip away, leaning hard into her shamelessness.
"I know you can."
Jocelyn said in irritation, "I told you, I can't help you!"
Annoyed, she tossed the phone onto the table and tapped the speaker button.
