The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 49

Audrey watched the video of Jocelyn and Adrian looking inseparable, and in a fit of rage, she threw her phone violently to the ground.

Michelle walked in just in time to see it.

Audrey felt a pang of guilt, not knowing what to do.

She had always played the part of the sweet, obedient daughter-in-law in the Lowell family.

Michelle picked up the phone from the floor, then gestured for the nanny to leave.

Only after the door was closed did she speak.

"What are you so angry about? Jocelyn is just enjoying a temporary victory. You know Adrian's heart belongs to you, don't you?"

Audrey was stunned. "Mom, how did you know..."

She had never told anyone about this, only quietly taken advantage of Adrian's affection for her.

"I wasn't born yesterday, Audrey. Adrian is my own son; I can read him like a book."

"Mom..."

Michelle took her hand. "Don't be afraid. I know, but I'm not angry. In fact, I don't object to you two being together."

Audrey's heart leaped with secret joy, but she said, "I only see Adrian as a brother, nothing more."

"Silly girl, you've already had Adrian's son. How can you still see him as a brother? Sooner or later, you two are meant to be together."

Audrey demurred, "How could we possibly be together? Morally, it's just not right."

"As long as Adrian gets a divorce, you'll both be single. What's to stop you from being together? And with Leo as your son, it's like fate has decreed it."

"A divorce?" Audrey probed cautiously. "But how could Jocelyn possibly agree to divorce Adrian?"

The Evans family was in decline. Jocelyn would be desperate to cling to a lifeline like the Lowell family. There was no way she would agree to a divorce!

A sinister light glinted in Michelle's eyes.

"Whether she agrees or not is not up to her. You just wait. I will find a way to make her divorce him."

"And I'll make sure she's the one who initiates it, so she leaves with nothing. She won't even be able to take a blade of grass from this family!"

Jocelyn rushed to the hospital.

Jocelyn took a while to gather her thoughts.

Finally, her emotions began to settle.

"Whose sperm was it?"

The nurse hesitated for a moment. "I... I can't say."

The hospital did have this rule.

Unless they had the donor's consent, they couldn't reveal their information.

Even when Jocelyn had needed to use Adrian's sperm, she had to pull strings to make it happen.

She never expected this outcome.

But for Jocelyn, this outcome... might not be so bad after all.

Her face hardened. "You need to understand the magnitude of your mistake. If I report this to the hospital, you will lose your job. In a worst-case scenario, you might never be able to work as a nurse again."

The nurse, of course, knew the gravity of the situation. At this reminder, her face instantly turned pale.
