"God, he's gorgeous..." Claire was practically ogling him, her eyes glued to his every move.
She had always believed that there was no man in all of Northwood City more handsome and successful than her brother, Adrian.
But seeing Julian today, Claire completely overturned her previous belief.
"Hello."
Claire extended her hand. "I'm Mr. Lowell's sister, Claire Lowell."
Julian merely glanced at her hand, his smile polite but distant.
"My apologies, I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so I don't have the habit of shaking hands."
Claire wasn't offended. She retracted her hand. "What's your name?"
"Julian Vance."
Claire nodded. "Oh... your name sounds really nice."
Julian's patience was purely out of courtesy.
"Thank you."
"Do you..."
"Ms. Lowell, excuse me, I have a call to make."
As soon as he finished speaking, Julian walked away.
Claire watched his tall, slender back, so prominent and dazzling in the crowd, and her heart pounded.
Could this be... love at first sight?
The transfer was completed smoothly, and Jocelyn could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
But what Adrian owed her couldn't be repaid with just one apartment.
This was just the beginning.
When Jocelyn returned, she saw that Claire's eyes hadn't left Julian for a second, and she naturally understood what was happening.
Julian came back after his call.
"My apologies, Mr. Lowell. The office just called. There's a serious problem with a newly developed system. I need to get back to the company immediately."
Adrian was understanding. "Then you should get going, Mr. Vance. We can reschedule for another time."
"My apologies, Mr. Lowell."
A thought struck Jocelyn. "Adrian, I won't go back with you. I need to go to the hospital to pick up my prescription."
Adrian assumed she was getting medication for her female issues, so he didn't insist. He dragged the still-daydreaming Claire away with him.
Jocelyn took out her phone and sent a message to Julian.
[Are you free for a cup of coffee?]
Julian replied quickly.
[Turn right out the door, about two hundred yards away, there's a nice coffee shop.]
Jocelyn: [See you in a bit.]
The coffee shop wasn't large, but it was exquisite and quiet.
Jocelyn hadn't driven, so she walked over.
Julian had already arrived and found a quiet private room.
As Jocelyn pushed open the sliding door, a blushing waitress emerged from inside.
Perhaps because there was no sense of distance between them, despite it being only their second meeting, they felt like old friends. Jocelyn teased casually.
