The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 67

Adrian stared at the words "approximately two days," his face slowly darkening.

He tossed out a curt, "Get some rest," then stood up and left.

Jocelyn had no interest in where he was going. She just locked the door behind him.

At that moment, she realized something. Adrian was changing.

For him to say something like, "I want to build a good life with you," was almost unbelievable.

In their three years of marriage, Adrian had never once acted like he wanted to build a life with her. Jocelyn's presence had been entirely optional.

For him to have such thoughts now was not a good thing for her.

Jocelyn began to wonder if her act had been too convincing lately, making Adrian see her in a different light.

Meanwhile, Adrian went straight to Audrey's room.

Audrey was nursing the baby.

At the sight, Adrian averted his gaze and turned his back.

Audrey cooed at the baby as she fed him. "Look, sweetie, look who's here. Your 'daddy' has come to see you."

Adrian's brow furrowed.

After feeding the baby, the nanny took him away.

Audrey adjusted her clothes. The sensual scene was gone, but the fullness of her chest was a temptation few men could resist.

Audrey was most proud of her stunning figure. Curvy in all the right places.

"Adrian, you don't look well."

Adrian's voice was low. "Which day did Leo have the allergic reaction?"

Audrey's heart skipped a beat. "Didn't the doctor say it was yesterday?"

"Because I wanted to see if you would worry, if you would care."

As Audrey spoke, tears began to stream down her face.

"Adrian, I don't know what's wrong with me. Ever since Leo was born, I've felt more and more insecure."

Adrian sat down on the edge of the bed, suppressing a feeling of suffocation.

"Grandma and Mom treat you like their own daughter. They take such good care of you and Leo. Why would you feel insecure?"

"No!" Audrey suddenly grabbed Adrian's hand. "What I care about most is how you feel about me, Adrian."

Adrian glanced down at her fingers. They were pretty, but not as beautiful as Jocelyn's. Even her touch didn't feel as soft and comfortable.

Adrian froze for a second, then immediately shook the comparison from his mind. Why was he thinking about that woman again? The one he truly loved was Audrey.

"Adrian, I never wanted to break you and Jocelyn up. I just don't want you to neglect me. I'm so afraid that you're only being good to me because I had Leo."
