The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 88

Julian made a hushing motion.

Ethan tactfully fell silent.

Jocelyn finished reading the entire document in one go.

When she looked up, she saw two people across from her, both smiling at her.

She gave an embarrassed laugh. "I'm sorry. I'm like this sometimes. When I get too absorbed, I forget everything else."

"It's fine," Julian said. "Take your time. I'm going to the restroom."

Because of Julian's earlier comment about being "one of us," Ethan felt less constrained.

"Miss Evans, I hear you graduated from Northwood University?"

"Yes," Jocelyn replied.

"Although I've always been with my boss in Austin, I've heard of the famous Northwood University. It's a place that produces a lot of talent."

Jocelyn smiled. "It's alright."

"I heard that the second-in-command of the 'K Alliance,' the network expert known as 'Storm,' also went to Northwood."

Jocelyn remained composed. "I think so."

She decided it was best not to admit that she was, in fact, Storm.

Ethan's eyes shone with admiration.

"I heard she single-handedly did a lot of good deeds—countering foreign cyberattacks, fighting online crime, assisting the police in capturing suspects, and much more. She's a truly incredible person."

"It's a shame no one knows her real identity."

Jocelyn took a sip of her tea, smiling without saying a word.

"Even my boss couldn't find her," Ethan continued. "It looks like I'll never have the chance to meet this top-tier expert in my lifetime."

Jocelyn chuckled softly. "You admire her that much?"

"Of course," Ethan said. "Her character, her abilities—they're all top-notch. How could you not admire someone like that? It's just like how I admire my boss."

"Your boss is indeed very impressive."

On this point, Jocelyn did not disagree at all.

Whether it was his social skills, his conduct, or his talent and abilities, he was flawless.

Jocelyn had only had private conversations with the leader, King.

Everyone thought that Storm acted alone, a lone wolf who was invincible.

But no one knew that behind Storm was an even more formidable expert: King.

He was like an omnipotent god. Every time Storm encountered a difficult problem, King would help her solve it.

Naturally, Jocelyn had the utmost respect for King; he was the only person in the field she truly looked up to.

Unfortunately, their interactions were limited to the internet.

At the time, she had really wanted to meet him in person.

To see who this legendary figure really was.

Regrettably, it remained a fantasy.

A few years later, the alliance disbanded.

Their connection ended there.

She never imagined...
