The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 172

Chapter 94-1

Claims

The master bedroom in the penthouse is locked in a heavy, suffocating silence, broken only by the sharp, metallic click of firearm magazines being checked and loaded.

Locke stands beside the bed, bathed in the dim, golden light of the bedside lamps. His black leather club vest is gone, replaced by a dark, form-fitting tactical shirt that clings to the broad expanse of his shoulders, a black combat belt strapped tight around his waist.

He works with a frightening, practiced efficiency: rack the slide, engage the safety, slide the heavy matte-black pistol into his tactical kydex holster.

I sit on the edge of the mattress in my silk robe, my hands folded tightly in my lap to hide the subtle tremor in my fingers.

My health might be back, my body strong and steady, but watching the man I care for prepare for war turns my blood to ice.

“Jade’s luggage is already in the guest room,” I say softly, the sound of my voice cutting through the quiet room. “She’ll be back soon.”

Locke pauses, his broad hands resting on the edge of the nightstand as he looks over at me. The harsh, lethal lines of his face soften instantly, his eyes filling with a fierce, burning heat the second his gaze locks

onto mine.

“Good,” Locke says, his voice a low, gravelly rumble.

He steps across the hardwood floor, closing the distance between us in two broad strides. He sinks down onto his knees in front of me, his massive hands coming up to rest gently on my thighs. The heat radiating off his body is an immediate, grounding current.

“She’s safer here with you than at their place,” he says. “The perimeter out at their house is too wide, too open. Here, we control every single inch of access.”

I look down at him, my fingers instinctively reaching out to trace the heavy, familiar line of his jaw. “You’re sure about the floor lockdown?”

“I’m positive,” Locke answers. “The new override code is set, and the key cylinder is completely dead. Willow’s stolen key or any physical key is nothing but scrap metal right now. If a single button is touched on any private keypad downstairs, my phone vibrates, Cobra’s phone vibrates, and the live camera feed pops up instantly.”

He reaches up, his large thumbs gently stroking my cheekbones, forcing me to look directly into his unwavering eyes.

“On top of that, three of the Grinning Skulls’ absolute deadliest guys are posted in this building twenty-four-seven,” Locke continues softly. “They’ve got heavy weaponry, strict orders, and direct lines to the full charter. Nobody steps onto this property tonight without getting put in the dirt. You and Jade are completely safe, Zara.”

“It’s not my safety I’m worried for, Locke,” I say. “It’s yours, and Dad’s, and Mayhem’s.”

Chapter 944-

Clain

Locke lets out a low, steady breath, stands and then sits beside me on the edge of the bed. He wraps his Trassive arm around my waist, pulling my back flush against his broad chest, holding me pinned securely against his heart

“Listen to me, Zara, Locke murmurs into my hair, his lips pressing against my temple, his breath hot against my skin. “We aren’t going out there to trade gunfire. We’re going in quiet, mapping his defenses. Cobra, Mayhem, and me… we’ve survived worse than Knox. We know how to move without being seen.”

“Promise me,” I demand softly. My dark hair falls around us like a curtain, shielding us from the rest of the world. “Promise me you come back to this bed. You come back to me.”

Locke’s eyes burn with an intensity so bright, so overwhelming, it takes the breath right out of my lungs.

“I’ll always come back to you, baby,” he growls softly, his fingers tangling tightly in the hair at the nape of my neck. “Always.”

Before I can speak, his lips crash down on mine.

The kiss isn’t gentle, and it isn’t slow. It’s raw, fierce, and desperate, born out of the terrifying weight of what tonight means, born out of an explosive, consuming need that burns away every lingering doubt in my veins.
