Chapter 160-2

A fresh tear spills over my lashes, but this time, it’s born of pure, overwhelming joy. “You aren’t scared of what it means for us? For the club?”
“My job is to build a fortress. Up until ten minutes ago, I was building that fortress just for you. Now? I’m building it for our family.”
He smiles, his hand remaining firmly anchored over my stomach, as if silently communicating with the tiny life inside me.
“Nothing touches this baby,” he swears, the words landing like a sacred oath in the quiet room. “No threat, no club business, no dark runs, no danger. I will tear this entire world down to bedrock before I let a single breath of harm come near you or our child.”
“Locke -”
“I’m going to be at every appointment. I’m going to watch every scan. I’m going to hold your hand through e very single second of this, Zara. I’m not going anywhere. Ever.”
In that moment, looking down at him, seeing his massive, lethal frame humbled in pure devotion before the tiny life inside me, I see the future with crystal clarity.
I see what kind of father he is going to be.
I see him sitting in a rocking chair in the middle of the night, his massive frame holding a tiny, fragile bundle against his broad, tattooed chest with the exact same fierce, gentle reverence he shows me.
I see him standing guard over a crib in the dark, a man who would tear the heavens down to protect his child’s sleep.
I see him teaching a little boy or a little girl how to walk, his massive hands catching their tiny fingers, his rough, dangerous voice softening into a low, soothing melody.
He won’t just be a protector; he’ll be an unyielding wall between our child and every dark thing in this
world.
“Locke,” I say, reaching down to weave my fingers through his thick hair, pulling him up until his face is inches from mine.
“Yeah, baby?”
“Kiss me. Please.”
Locke doesn’t hesitate. He rises up, wrapping his heavy arms around my waist and pulling me flush against his massive frame as his mouth captures mine.
The kiss isn’t frantic or feral; it’s deep, slow, and reverent, a sacred seal placed upon a vow. It tastes like salt, reliet, rain, and home. It carries the weight of everything we’ve survived – the chemo, the hospital rooins, the dark runs, the fear – and transforms it all into a bright, blinding future.
His hand remains locked over my stomach, pressing me close, claiming us both with a quiet, absolute possessiveness that banishes every lingering shadow of doubt from my heart.
Chapter 150.
When he finally pulls back, his lips hover an inch from mine, his hot breath fanning across my cheeks as he Tooks down at me with a rare, breathtaking smirk playing on his lush lips.
“Now,” he says. “We have a serious problem.”
I blink, startled by the sudden shift in his tone. “A problem? What problem?”
“Mayhem and Jade,” Locke says, a dark, amused glint flashing in his eyes. “Mayhem was already losing his damn mind yesterday morning because you got lightheaded standing up. And Jade? God help us both. When she finds out I let you sit through four hours of medical tests while running on a single blueberry muffin, she’s going to threaten to castrate me on the spot.”
A breathless, delighted laugh bursts out of my throat, loud and bright. “Jade wouldn’t castrate you… okay. maybe she’d threaten to, but she’d be too busy crying tears of joy.”
“She’s going to move into the penthouse,” Locke says. “The second she finds out you’re carrying her niece or nephew, Jade is going to show up with ten bags of organic groceries, three air purifiers, and a ten-page list of rules for me and Mayhem.”
“Can you imagine? That woman’s going to be the most protective aunt on the planet.”
“That is the truth.”
And just like that, my panic is gone. The terror has dissolved into an absolute, unshakable certainty.
My body beat the cancer. And now, surrounded by the fierce, unyielding love of the man holding me, we’re bringing a little miracle into the world.
“Let them try to smother us and boss us around,” I say airily. “We have a family to build.”
“Yeah, we do,” Locke says, pulling me close as the door clicks open and Dr. Mercer steps back into the room, bringing with her the papers for our future. “Damn right we do.”
