The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 378

Chapter 185-2

The guests cheer wildly glasses raised high in the air as people begin gathering closer together. The energy in the room shifts from wild partying to a warm, collective anticipation.

Locke steps up behind me, his broad chest presses solid against my back, his heavy arms wrapping around my waist, enveloping me completely. I lean back against him with a soft, contented sigh, resting my head against his shoulder.

“Having fun, baby?”

“The best time,” I whisper back. “It feels so good to have everyone here. Safe, happy, and celebrating.”

Locke’s eyes soften as he looks down at me, his hand resting warm and heavy flat against my lower stomach through my clothes. “You look beautiful tonight, Zara. Radiant.”

I flush under his intense gaze, my hand coming up to cover his hands over my belly. “Must be the company.”

“Ten seconds!” Mayhem roars across the room, grabbing Jade around the waist and pulling her tight against his side. Jade laughs brightly, throwing her arms around his neck, her diamond earrings catching the flash of the television screen as the whole room joins in the booming chorus:

“TEN! NINE! EIGHT!”

I turn fully into Locke’s arms, sliding my hands up his chest, feeling the steady, powerful thud of his heart under my palms. Locke looks down at me, the chaotic noise of the crowded room fading into a quiet background hum as his universe narrows down to just the two of us.

“SEVEN! SIX! FIVE! FOUR! THREE! TWO! ONE!”

“HAPPY NEW YEAR!”

The room explodes into thunderous cheers, whistles, and the loud clinking of glasses. Streamers shoot across the ceiling, music blasts through the sound system, and shouts of celebration echo across the penthouse.

Across the room, Mayhem scoops Jade completely off her feet, dipping her dramatically as he plants a deep, passionate kiss right on her lips. Jade laughs against his mouth, her arms locked around his neck as the brothers cheer them on.

Rook pulls his girl into a tight hug, while the other guys clink their glasses, kissing their women and shouting toasts to the club, the future, and the road ahead.

Right here in front of me, Locke doesn’t wait another second.

His broad hands cup the sides of my face, stroking gently over my cheekbones, and he leans down, taking my mouth in a deep, slow, possessive kiss that steals the very breath from my lungs.

It isn’t a rushed, party kiss. It’s deep, intense, and cuts straight through the noise of the room. He kisses

me like I’m his entire world, holding me safe right in the middle of the storm, his lips warm and demanding against mine.

When he finally pulls back, his eyes are burning with a low, intense fire. His forehead rests against mine, our breath mingling together in the space between us.

“Happy New Year, baby” he murmurs softly, his gravelly voice carrying a weight that makes my soul tremble.

“Happy New Year, handsome,” I whisper back, my fingers lacing behind his neck, pulling him down just enough to keep him close

Locke’s hand slides down, resting flat, firm, and protective over my stomach, stroking a slow circle over the tiny, ten-week-old secret nestled safely inside me. He leans in closer, his lips brushing against my ear as he speaks, his deep voice dropping to a low, intimate tone meant for only me to hear:

“Next year is going to bring everything we’ve ever wanted, Zarà. Everything we fought for. You, me, and our baby.”

A tear of pure, overwhelming joy pricks the corner of my eye, shining under the party lights as I look up into his face. The dark days of treatment, the hospital corridors, the quiet fears that kept me awake in the middle of the night…they’re all behind us now, left in the ashes of time gone by.

“Everything we ever wanted,” I agree.

Across the room, Jade catches my eye over Mayhem’s shoulder. She raises her champagne glass toward me with a brilliant, knowing wink, mouthing ‘Happy New Year, Mama’ before Mayhem pulls her back into another laughter-filled kiss.

Locke turns us slightly, keeping his arm wrapped tight around my waist as we look out over the crowded, noisy living room. The brothers are singing along to the loud music, drinks held high, their laughter ringing out over the skyline glowing through the glass.

Out there, the new year is waiting. It’s full of steel cribs and nursery paint; club announcements and bringing down a drug operation; a life of raw, unvarnished adventure and wild, passionate nights.

Right here, right now in Locke’s arms, being held by the man who loved me through the fire, I know we are completely, wonderfully unstoppable.

Nothing can hurt me now. Nothing and no-one.
