The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 500

Willow crosses the concrete floor with steady, graceful purpose. Stitch doesn’t turn around

right away; his back remains rigid against the stainless–steel cart as he reaches for another

roll of medical tape.

But as she draws closer, his shoulders square, his neck tightens, and his hands freeze over

the steel tray.

He senses her before he sees her.

He turns.

Even from thirty feet away, the air between them sparks. Stitch opens his mouth, his jaw

moving in tight, rapid jerks… clearly trying to pull his cold, clinical armor back up, trying to

offer some sharp, professional excuse, trying to push her away.

Willow doesn’t flinch. She simply tilts her head, and says something back. It’s a light,

effortless sentence that carries the obvious tilt of a playful tease.

I watch Stitch’s sharp defense falter instantly.

His mouth closes. His eyebrows pull together, not in anger, but in that helpless, overwhelmed

confusion of a man whose carefully built walls just turned to dust.

Willow steps directly into his space, closing the final few inches between them until her toes

are nearly touching the metal of heavy combat boots. She reaches up, her palm resting flat

against his sternum, right over his leather cut and the tactical plate beneath it.

I see the exact second Stitch’s military posture breaks. His heavy sigh is visible in the drop of

his broad shoulders.

He sets down the roll of tape, his gloved hand rising to cover hers, pressing her palm tighter against his chest as if to show her how hard his heart is hammering beneath the armor.

Then the banter resumes, but the tone has shifted completely. Willow tilts her face up, her expression soft, flirtatious, and impossibly sweet. She says something that makes Stitch’s lips twitch.

And then, the impossible happens:

Stitch smiles.

It isn’t his sharp, sarcastic smirk or his tense, professional grimace. It’s a genuine,

breathtakingly tender smile that softens every hard angle of his scarred face.

His gloved hand leaves hers and slowly, he slips off his heavy leather work glove, dropping it

onto the tray, wanting to feel her skin with his bare hand.

Carefully, his fingers glide up her neck, tracing the curve of her jawline, gently stroking a stray

lock of dark hair off her cheek, tucking it behind her ear with a reverence that makes my

chest ache.

Willow closes her eyes for a fraction of a second, leaning her cheek into his palm.

They speak again, their faces inches apart now, their eyes holding. It’s a slow, intimate

exchange, a quiet back–and–forth where every slight tilt of a chin, every flicker of an eye, is a

word in a language only the two of them speak.

She says something that makes him chuckle softly, his head shaking in surrender, before his

thumb rests gently against her lower lip.

The teasing fades, replaced by a deep, breathless weight.

Stitch doesn’t rush. He leans down slowly, giving her every opportunity to pull back.

But Willow doesn’t move away. She rises up onto the balls of her feet, her hands reaching to lightly grip the heavy leather lapels of his cut.

When their lips finally touch, it’s a slow, lingering unraveling.

It isn’t a desperate collision born of panic; it’s a profound, quiet surrender.

Stitch’s eyes close as he deepens the kiss, his hand sliding to the back of her head, his fingers threading through her feathered hair to hold her close, while his other arm wraps entirely around her waist, lifting her slightly off the concrete.

Willow melts against him, her fingers sliding into the collar of his shirt, anchoring herself to his solid frame. She looks impossibly small against him, but also incredibly strong.

Around them, the men continue to haul ammo crates, heavy boots thunder toward the rear bays, and rain hammers against the glass. But in that tiny circle of space beside the

stainless–steel cart, the world completely stops.
