The room seems to shrink until there’s nothing in the universe except the glowing monitors
and the crackle of those open channels.
I don’t need video feeds. The audio carries every physical detail:
The hiss of wind whipping past the open door of the helicopter, the heavy breathing of men.
strapped into combat harnesses, the faint clinking of steel carabiners, and the steady,
rhythmic rain driving against armor.
“In position,” my father says calmly over the chop of the rotors. “Mayhem… light them up.”
“With pleasure,” my brother rasps. “On three.”
A few seconds later, a deep, muffled THOOM rattles through the speakers, so loud it clips the
audio limits of Byte’s microphone. Even miles away, the sheer force of the breaching charges
detonating along the outer concrete wall carries over the wire, vibrating through the console
desk.
Instantly, the audio channels burst into a controlled, lethal storm of sound.
Over the ground feed, alarm sirens begin to wail inside the dry–cleaning plant, a high–pitched,
mechanical scream cutting through the dark.
Multiple voices shouting ring out over the ambient noise: men yelling orders in confusion, boots scrambling across metal catwalks, and heavy gunfire breaking out as the outcast
ambush team realizes their trap has been completely blown open.
“Decoy sprung!” Rook shouts over the comms, his voice steady despite the chaos around him. “Perimeter guards are breaking cover! They’re pulling back inside the main facility!
Moving up!”
Through the air team’s channel, the chop of the helicopter blades roars as Dad gives the
order.
“Rope down! Go, go, go!”
Through the static, we hear the heavy hiss of thick ropes dropping onto a roof, followed by the sharp slide of leather gloves against synthetic line. Three heavy thuds echo through Dad’s mic as he, Hammer, and Big Mac hit the roof structure.

“Roof secure!” Hammer barks, the wind whipping wildly into his microphone. “Hatch lock is
primed. Mac, lay down the charge!”
“Setting C4 strip,” Big Mac’s booming voice cuts in, clipped and focused. “Three… two… one…
breaching!”
A sharp, contained SNAP punches through Dad’s mic, immediately followed by the heavy
screech of iron being kicked inward and the instant roar of indoor alarms swelling up from
the top floor.
“Roof entry cleared,” Dad’s voice cuts through the gunfire below. “We’re inside the top level. Suppressed fire on the landing guard. Hammer, clear the east office. Mac, take the hallway.
Entering stairwell now.”
Down below, at the exact same moment, Mayhem and Rook trigger their second set of heavy explosive charges directly at the main entrance loading bays. A heavy, metallic crunch echoes through the room as reinforced steel doors are blown off their tracks with a
staggering BOOM.
“Front doors breached!” Mayhem roars over the line. “Suppression fire… keep them pinned in
the central corridor. Move, move, move!”
The sound of automatic gunfire floods the channel – not frantic or wild, but measured, disciplined three–round bursts.
Suppressed weapons pop with sharp, rhythmic thwip–thwip–thwip sounds, punctuated by the heavy, booming c***k of Mayhem’s custom shotgun clearing the scene.
Through the wire, every footfall inside that death trap rings out with terrifying clarity: heavy combat soles crunching through shattered safety glass, spent brass casings raining onto concrete like metal hail, and the wet, heavy thud of bodies hitting the floor.
Inside the facility, complete panic takes hold among Vane’s forces. We hear the muffled shouts of mercenaries echo frantically through the structure:
“They’re at the front! Move the team down from the second floor!”
“Get the heavy guns to the lobby! They’re blowing the front!”
They fall for it completely. Believing the primary assault is coming through the shattered front doors, the remaining defenders scramble down the catwalks toward the lower
